We want to focus not only on location information, for example where a truck is with its load, but increasingly also on sensor-based measurement of the condition of the load. That means we use sensors to measure physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, acceleration. Why? Because we can monitor the quality of the entire transport chain and proactively manage it. So if you know a container has fallen and its contents are likely damaged, you can proactively trigger a reorder. These are great advantages for the future in connected transport logistics. In manufacturing, there are many projects at Bosch. We have over 100 pilot projects at over 52 manufacturing sites. A few examples: We have an intelligent material planning system. Depending on stock levels, replenishment is automatically triggered. Information goes to the planner, and through simulations, orders to production are optimized. Production knows what to produce to meet deficits. Another example is track and trace. It involves locating cordless screwdrivers in a production hall. It sounds banal, but in safety-relevant production, knowing the location ensures the right torque for a specific task. Cross-company solutions: we have defined reference processes across companies and industries, making implementation easy. In a disaster, you know which supplier and customer plants are affected. That is an overarching solution with open standards. Also, we have areas like smart home with open platforms for connecting household appliances, consumer electronics, and home automation. In e-mobility, we have a consortium of 212 energy suppliers and an energy service provider working to ensure users always have access to charging infrastructure with appropriate billing.
