Welcome to Top Five. We are here at my home in Zell am See and I am happy to show you my vehicles. The 911 is the successor of the 356, and all the diehard fans who drove the 356 said, 'Terrible, what is this new car? That cannot be.' I think you cannot plan success, but the 911 has proven itself over 50 years and is constantly further developed. The diehards became quieter and there are many who now prefer the new 11.
My brother Ferdinand Alexander made the design and always advocated for a purist design. He always said there should not be many flourishes. The family's favorite color is green; it was my father's favorite color. He had almost all cars in green. The 993 Carrera is one of the last air-cooled engines and therefore has a good sound and is an incredibly great car. I really like driving near the Großglockner; I don't need the autobahn but the curves. The road holding of the car is simply great.
This is now the Carrera GT with bucket seats. It is a true racing car, enough power, beautiful interior. Simply a great car. When the word Carrera is there, it is something particularly sporty and fast. This Carrera GT has 612 hp. This engine was made for racing. Ear candy. I find both the rear and the front good. The front again has this line from the headlights. Otherwise it is a beautiful sports car. The shift knob of the Carrera GT is made of wood. I think it is quite nice. Early in the morning this vehicle was presented in Paris on the Champs-Élysées. Ferry drove this vehicle and was also very enthusiastic.
Now I have chosen a very special, relatively new vehicle: the Panamera hybrid plug-in with 550 combustion hp and about 130 electric. The color 'chalk' is perhaps a bit bold, especially the interior which is also very bright. This vehicle looks almost like the stone grey of the American roadster. From the front it is again a Porsche-like shape with the headlights slightly raised. The ignition key on the left, as with all Porsches, are a few things that are just fun. My father would surely have made this vehicle because he always said the newest vehicle is always the best. That was always my theme when I collected an old car; his statement was 'Why such an old car? The newer one is always better.' For me this was actually a continuation of the Porsche story. I mean over 100 years ago my grandfather made the first hybrid with a wheel hub motor, which also had a combustion engine and electric charging in the wheel hubs. So this is actually a continuation of the old theme. I prefer to sit at the steering wheel because I know I am a bad passenger.
This vehicle is an American roadster from 1952, designed only for the US market with a small auxiliary roof in case of rain. Since it rarely rains in California, one drove without it. The door is so low so you can drive with your arm outside. It was just chic to drive like that. This vehicle has the color stone grey, 70 hp, a four-cylinder engine, a real sports car from the 1950s, lightweight aluminum body, weight 600 kg, light compared to today's cars. In this car is a real sports car; Carrera means it is a very sporty vehicle from that model series. It has 130 hp and is in my eyes a wolf in sheep's clothing because you don't see it. The only thing you recognize is the low-lying exhaust and this end piece, and therefore this vehicle is called 'the pregnant cat'. This vehicle has a great sound, the exhaust is simply good and the performance is good. The steering wheel is a spoke wooden steering wheel, much thinner than today's steering wheels, so you need these gloves to have grip. Irish green is one of my favorite colors. The sporty shape, the front headlights detached and a flat nose have remained, and that is also the core element of the 911.
I think the important thing is that you don't constantly completely change the cars. If you look at the model range and the development of the 911, something is always changed, often invisibly, but the basic shape remains the shape as it was.
