Knauf Insulation - KI Management Board commenting on the Knauf Values

Knauf Insulation is part of Knauf, let's be absolutely clear about that. It's very nice to be in Knauf Insulation where you can invent yourself a little bit and at the same time have this strong industrial vision from the Knauf Group. I think the Knauf name is a tremendous name, it has a fantastic image, it is a strength. There's no doubt that the word Knauf, the family name, certainly opens a lot of doors. It's about purpose. What we do matters. Insulation is just an articulation of what we do that's different, which is the manufacture and distribution of insulation products. That's fundamentally what we do. We're to stop climate change, saving the planet. That's what I tell my kids I do. Plus, what I would say is that we never say that something is impossible. Energy efficiency, greenhouse gas effects, reducing carbon emissions... I like that, I think it's good. It gives me pride. So I just have this vision that energy efficiency is at the core of everything that we should be doing as a society. Knauf Insulation is in a fantastic position. It has a portfolio of solutions which are perfect for society at large. I think in a few years, Knauf Insulation would have a reference as the leader in insulation. At least you have this Mentor-Kite commitment, entrepreneurship, partnership. Those to me describe what the business is about. We have the goal, we have the vision and the mission. We have to decide how we get there. What those values do is they articulate how we're going to get there. I'm waking up in the morning, so far in the last seven years I never thought, oh, I have to go to work today. It's a dedication to the cause. If you want to achieve something, you should not give up. You should do everything necessary. I can't be uncommitted. I can either do something or not, and if I do it, I'm committed. There's a strong loyalty from the employees to the company, but also from the company to its employees. That's commitment for me. You come on, do a bit more, going through even adverse, very difficult moments to achieve whatever we set out to do, to hang in there, to strive, to push, and to get there. So partnership with the staff, partnership with the factories, partnership with the central functions, but partnership with our customers as well. That for me is the one I hold closest. I don't prefer to say customer or supplier, but it's better to say partner. I'm a big believer that if you get an organization pulling together, going in the same direction, working in partnership, almost any direction you go in business will work. It's about building things better together, giving opportunity to explore opportunities, new markets, new products, new clients, new sectors. It's a small business spirit in a big company, doing the best, looking for new solutions, questioning how we have done things in the past. That is being an entrepreneur. It's about action, it's about moving, it's energy. If I'm honest, I think entrepreneurship is the reason I am at Knauf. I think taking risk is second nature to the organization. I think it's been built on taking strong positive risks. You really have to enjoy being a human being and appreciate others being human beings, with their needs, with their dreams, with their necessities, and so on. I think being socially responsible in a broad sense, something like humanity, try to find in any other values from other companies, and that extends also to the environment, the impact you have on the environment. I think is part of that value. I think it really is about trust. That's something that is really key to my life. I like the people I work with and I care about them. I think that's the best situation you can be in. But I think giving consideration and care for the broader community and for other people is probably a decent definition. But for me, it's about being, it's about who you are.
