We are starting the program and looking forward to our first speaker. An electric city bus is already on the market in Munich. This year, the long-distance segment is up. Four e-truck prototypes passed tests in icy Sweden. We welcome Dr. Frederik Zohm, development board member, as our keynote speaker. He is now connected. At minus 40 degrees, your trucks drove in northern Sweden. Were you there with a thick jacket? That's exciting. We are eager for your keynote on the path to CO2-free transport. Stage is yours.

Thank you and welcome to all listeners. Let me give some background. MAN is part of the Traton Group within Volkswagen, bundling commercial vehicle activities with brands Scania, Navistar, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus in Brazil. We have 33,000 employees and €11 billion revenue. We cover everything from 7.5 to 240 tons, including buses and vans. Why electromobility? Transport accounts for about 3 gigatons of CO2, nearly 10% of global emissions. MAN contributes 162 million tons. A truck drives 110,000 km per year, consuming 20,000-40,000 liters of diesel. 97% of emissions occur during use. 50% of CO2 from road freight comes from 40-ton trucks. So we focus on battery electric for heavy trucks. We have already sold 2,200 e-buses and 1,100 e-trucks. Our new e-truck uses a modular battery concept with up to 480 kWh, giving 600-800 km daily range. We will charge at 375 kW in 2024 and 750 kW later, reaching 80% in 33 minutes. We also work on hydrogen for special segments. But success requires four factors: product, infrastructure, green energy, and TCO. We need a high CO2 price to make the business case work. In summary, we are committed to decarbonizing transport with battery electric as the primary solution, supported by hydrogen, and we need political focus on infrastructure and renewable energy.

Thank you for the keynote and the clear statements. A truck manufacturer calling for higher CO2 prices and radical expansion of renewables – unthinkable ten years ago. How do you personally view the political situation in Germany, like the postponement of the Building Energy Act and the feeling of technology hostility? That interests me.

The important thing is that political decision-makers set their focus. The technological change in industry is advanced, but we are not moving fast enough on grid infrastructure and green energy expansion. Trucks need space, which is not available yet. We need to keep focus and prioritize decarbonization over other regulations like Euro 7. We also need a European approach. A high CO2 price in transport logistics is acceptable because it spreads across all consumers, but we must consider the social component in individual mobility. We need to take people along, explain more, and create technology clarity. At the same time, we must allow for technology leaps – battery technology has advanced faster than expected. Ultimately, the market will decide based on economics.

Thank you very much for the moment. You have teased further presentations on infrastructure and political framework. We will deepen this in the panel discussion. For now, a big thank you. Thank you, see you later.
