Great pricing, uh, great aggressive looking car with good features.
I
Interviewer0:24
Tell me the time, why is it launched now? Do you think it could have been posted for a later holiday release or something?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa0:30
I think it is my pleasure because that we have been preparing the new age balance for the customer. Uh, since 2015 that we launched this vehicle and already seven years has passed. Unfortunately, due to the COVID etcetera happened that you know we had a little bit deteriorated in a new launch but unfortunately today we can start delivering it to our customer. People are waiting in the market. It's my pleasure.

The season is clearly of the SUVs and the MPVs. Don't you think that first Ertiga or XL6 could have been given a more aggressive look and then probably a hatchback segment could have been looked at?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa1:09
No, no, no, no. We are separate. Equally that preparing those kind of segment already that gauge the weekend opportunity to announce that the market, right.
I
Interviewer1:23
Sir, how much investments have you put in for this particular model and where will this be manufactured and how much percentage of which the share would be going to the Toyota model as well?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa1:33
Uh, at the process that we are already announced that 1500 crore they invested in this model, you know, and also that this model already shifting from Haryana to Gujarat and we will continue producing this model in Gujarat. As you said that, you know, this model also targeting the global market and already had more than 100 countries exporting the old version. Maybe we can continue that, you know, those kind of market and these are the very convenient export, right? That's why that we continue to producing this model in Gujarat. Uh, total show that we are of course a very good relationship with them and for our model they're providing them. They will decide by themselves that we can anytime we can support that, right.
I
Interviewer2:23
Are you covered? What is the electric vehicle scenario? Is the 2025 plan completely on the table? And are there any joint ventures that you're planning for the electric vehicle because many companies have started doing joint ventures with experts in the industry? So is there a plan on the table?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa2:37
We are manufacturer, you know, we try to do by ourselves but already 2025, by 2025, uh, motor corporation announced that India to launch the vehicle. We already only two and three years remain, right? We have to start preparation but manufacturing preparations at the, uh, EV soon. You'll be soon manufacturing, they be starting to manufacture.
I
Interviewer3:04
That's a great news input, sir. A second last question to you. How's the semiconductor shortage been now? Has the issue resolved? Is the waiting time further increased because last time we spoke there were various vendors from Singapore and Malaysia that you were talking to for an increased supply. So has the issue resolved, sir?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa3:21
I think that the issue is not perfectly resolved because day by day some new issues coming, right. And for of course comparing the last August of the September last time, the situation becomes better. And globally conditions that are improving right now. That's why some countries are facing a difficulty but due to COVID the situation they're changing. But globally, not only auto industry but other including other industries, the chip demand is very very high and unfortunately global capacity of the chip maker is limited. We have to try to find some solution. It takes time, maybe one year something like that more.
I
Interviewer4:04
How much time do you think the problem will ultimately be resolved or probably be lesser for the consumers?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa4:08
I think the histogram becomes better but still continues some portion, not hundred percent. It takes a long time.
I
Interviewer4:17
Last question, sir. There was a recent about two months ago there was a price hike that was announced. In the intermediate future, are you expecting a price? Are you addressing? Have you spoken within the company about an immediate price hike, sir?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa4:31
I think it's that we are reviewing it. I mean, I already said that we are reviewing carefully that input cost situation. And maybe last year very quickly improving at my commodity price etc. I hope this area a little bit stable. We can try to absorb some cost by our cost reduction efforts. Expected to depend on the situation. Sir, global situation is very very fast moving, right? We have to carefully watch because all our component material linked to that global economical condition. That's why we cannot decide by ourselves either with this global crisis between the Ukraine and that crisis.
I
Interviewer5:21
Sir, are you anticipating any impact on the industry in India or probably your exports or any other scenario that you're looking at? Any comment on that point?
K
Kenichi Ayukawa5:29
You know, material and the component if related to some those area we have to carefully watch but this moment that we cannot take it so serious. We have to see well, right, well okay.
I
Interviewer5:44
That's why that's that was thank you so much for speaking to us sir. Well, that was the MD and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa talking about how the input costs have been troublesome and with respect to the price hike, they'll have to take a call on as to when the price hike could probably be done but yes as of now the situation seems to be stable.
