About Yves Padrines

Yves Padrines, CEO of Nemetschek Group, spoke at the company's India launch event in October 2024 and at the GNI Symposium in September 2024. At the India launch, Padrines announced the opening of Nemetschek's first go-to-market office in Mumbai and discussed the company's plans to offer cost-effective product packages for the Indian market. He stated that the construction industry is the least digitalized industry globally and described digitalization as a way to improve efficiency and sustainability. Padrines also introduced the company's dTwin solution, which he described as an open-data digital twin for buildings that can aggregate historical data with live IoT data for use cases such as predictive maintenance and energy efficiency. At the GNI Symposium, Padrines noted that 90% of construction projects are late or over budget, 40% of global CO2 emissions come from the construction industry, and 20% of material used in construction projects is wasted. He described AI as "the biggest revolution in the industry" and stated that Nemetschek aims to be an "ethical and trustworthy AI first company." Padrines also congratulated Professor Georg Nemetschek on receiving an honorary senator title, crediting him with shaping the company and the AEC/O industry.

Nemetschek, thank you Ian, and good morning everyone. It's an honor to speak after our visionary founder and role model, Professor Georg Nemetschek, and on behalf of the entire Nemetschek group, all our employees, partners, and customers, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations for receiving his honorary Senator title at TUM. Congratulations again. This is a recognition for your pioneering spirit, your strong contribution to the AEC industry, and your vision and strong commitment to innovation that shaped the Nemetschek group to become the second largest software company in Germany and a leader in AEC software, and to transform the entire AEC and built world to become more efficient, more productive, and more sustainable. So thank you again for everything, Professor. Let's talk briefly about the challenges of the construction industry. 90% of construction projects are still today late or over budget. 40% of global CO2 emissions come from the construction industry, not only from design and planning or construction but also from the operate and manage phase. 20% of material used in a construction project is wasted, which with supply chain issues and material cost increases is becoming a big issue. And we have a huge lack of manpower: a shortage of over 7 million skilled employees globally. So how are we going to solve this? Is digitalization the remedy? Yes, digitalization can help deliver more on time and on budget, waste less material, design greener buildings, be more energy efficient, etc. But there are a lot of issues around digitalization. We see four trends providing answers: first, interoperability; second, AI, which is the biggest revolution in the industry, much bigger than the internet, to help us become augmented architects and engineers, but we need to look at it in an ethical and trustworthy way. We at Nemetschek want to be an ethical and trustworthy AI-first company. Third, data is key; we launched a new data-driven digital twin called dTwin. Fourth, sustainability is key. Software solutions are helping to make the world more sustainable. The Nemetschek group plays in two main industries: the entire lifecycle of the built environment and the media industry with Maxon. In AEC, we have brands like Allplan, Graphisoft, Vectorworks; in build and construct, Bluebeam with over 3 million users; we have Nevaris ERP, and we recently acquired GoCanvas for field management. We also have dTwin and dRofus for data management. We have over 7 million users, 60 years of success, over 4,000 employees. I would like to show you a short video describing 60 years of success.

The modern world we live in was shaped by people, and it was way back in 1963 that Georg Nemetschek first started to put the tools to do that in their hands. From one man's vision came Nemetschek. Through curiosity, pioneering, and entrepreneurial approach, we came to understand the power of new technologies. We leveraged them into some of the earliest software for those ambitiously shaping our world. We learned, innovated, and constantly challenged the norms throughout one of the most tumultuous and rapidly changing periods in human history. We've grown, adapted, and helped shape the direction of travel. We've been there for the designers, innovators, pioneers, and builders. In a fast-moving world, we've always known the power of what technology can do, how it can enable the greatest minds. We've seen what pushing the boundaries can achieve. We've never given up on those who want to craft the future and build a better world, or stopped believing in what might be possible. For decades, we've invested in the best people and technology to support and enable this critical industry. We've spent 60 years honing and perfecting what we do. No one knows those who design this planet or the tools they really need better than we do. We're the Nemetschek group, and we help people shape the world.
