I nominated Giacomo because I saw in Giacomo what, as a rare disease community member, I would hope to see in an industry partner. He exemplifies what it means to be dedicated to doing what's right for the patient community. He understands that achieving equity in health care means that we need to address those that are often overlooked. The challenges that Giacomo and the businesses face is front and center for everybody has been the COVID pandemic. And he took steps early on to first ensure that we had operational integrity, so the first thing that he did was ensure that we could secure our supply chains, that we could make sure there was a consistent flow of the medicines and therapies that we have for all of our constituents. And Giacomo is constantly at the forefront of helping us accelerate that, bringing much needed help and support to the patient communities. Giacomo, keep up the good work. I'm extremely proud and honored to be a partner in this journey with you.

I'd like to thank Global Genes, thanks Greg, thanks Michael. First of all, for not butchering the Chiesi name, which I know is incredibly difficult to pronounce and there's been variations of it all over the place that you can't even imagine. But most importantly, Global Genes has redefined the landscape in rare diseases in our opinion, so thanks Greg for your service and your leadership. Chiesi is a family business. We've been around for 85 years now, and I'm a member of the third generation of the family actively involved in the business. The company has grown, we have 7,000 associates in more than 30 countries now. And as a family business, we look to the next generation and we want to be around a thousand years from today. We really look to make a significant positive impact on society and on the environment. So for us, what's important is that long-term commitment, and that's also the reason why we are a benefit corporation. Rare diseases, as you know, are an important challenge for society. There are 7,000 non-rare diseases that impact an estimated 400 million people around the world, and we really believe it's a societal unmet issue. So we want to do our part. And that's why two years ago we launched Chiesi Global Rare Diseases, and in this relatively short period of time impacted by COVID, Chiesi Global Rare Diseases has become a 300 people strong organization in more than 20 countries, with fully integrated capabilities in drug development. Thank you. And in commercialization, we love to take risks for the patients. We do science for the sake of patients and not science for the sake of science, and we love to take treatments all the way to the patient homes. We know what our role is. We embrace it. We need, want and must be champions of hope and continue to invest for the benefit of the patients. With only five percent of rare diseases that have an approved or experimental therapy, there's a huge work to do ahead of us. Which is why I'm very glad to accept this award on behalf of the entire Chiesi Global Rare Diseases team. Not as a testament of what we have done, but as a testament of the continued work that we will continue to do for the patient in the future. So I'd like to thank Global Genes, I'd like to thank you all, I'd like to thank the patients for letting their voice shape who we are as a company, as an organization, in the continued journey to save society from rare diseases.
