This is the Responsible podcast, a favorite part of the portal odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl. We work for sustainable development, inspire business that changes the world, connect people who change business. All this is in our broadcasts, available now on the website odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl/publikacje in the podcast tab. We invite you. In the face of the crisis, we all operate in extreme conditions, but this situation has also released a lot of good. We see numerous examples of social solidarity, individual civic engagement, business organizations. We want to disseminate these examples, hence the idea for the Responsible Business Forum campaign 'Business Reacts Responsibly' and 'Audio Reacts Responsibly'. But that is only one side of the coin; the other is widespread uncertainty and fear for our health and future, for our loved ones, the fate of organizations, entrepreneurs, and us as employees. We need wise leaders and responsible leadership more than ever. That is why we are beginning a series of interviews with presidents of companies that cooperate with the Responsible Business Forum. How do they operate in crisis? How do they manage their company? These are very important and needed voices, because the test of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development has just begun. I warmly welcome you. We invite you to listen to a conversation with the president of LPP, Marcin Piechocki, who was the first to accept our invitation to share how his company operates today. Good morning, Mr. President, thank you very much for the conversation.

We faced the closure of all retail and restaurants on March 13. We lost revenue but had obligations to employees and suppliers. The biggest challenge is managing people to preserve as many jobs as possible. We have a new government law that we are studying. Our top priority is to maintain liquidity, so we will not pay dividends this year. We are preparing for a deep recession, potentially larger than 2008. We have formed a union of Polish employers in trade and services to advocate for our sector. Additionally, we are actively fighting the pandemic. Because we have been working with China for 30 years, we were able to send 500,000 masks there in January. Now over a million masks are coming back from China. The first 300,000 arrived in early April, and another 700,000 will come later. We are distributing them to Polish hospitals. We are also starting production of masks and coveralls in Poland with the support of the Industrial Development Agency. Despite competition, we have united as a sector, with over 150 companies employing 200,000 people directly and about a million including suppliers. What gives me hope is the social solidarity: people helping each other, working remotely, and the general awareness of the threat. We have shown that we can come together quickly.
