Hello everyone, my name is Adolfo Orive and I'm the President and Global CEO of Tetra Pak. It's an immense pleasure and a privilege to participate in the Innova Klabin event, especially during this year which is the 122nd anniversary of Klabin in Brazil. Since my Portuguese is very limited, I will speak in English. First, I would like to congratulate each one of you for being part of this wonderful company and for building such a fantastic history. As you all know, Klabin is one of Tetra Pak's largest and more important paperboard suppliers, but more importantly it is what I honestly believe a true strategic partner for us. Our partnership began in 1982 when the first trials and production using Klabin's raw materials started in Brazil. Since then we have collaborated on many projects to deliver better products and drive innovation within the food packaging industry. Besides our long-lasting relationship, there is another thing that brings us together or binds us together, which is our strong focus to drive sustainability and help protect our planet. Tetra Pak has a long history in supporting the food and beverage industry and in serving the broader society through its purpose. We commit to making food safe and available everywhere, and we promise to protect what's good. We protect food, we protect people, and we protect the planet. In order to continue delivering on our purpose, we have ambitious sustainability goals, and we recognize that we can't achieve them working alone. We need you, which is why partners like Klabin, which share our sustainability aspirations, are so critical, so important. Klabin is already considered as a strong reference point for sustainability in Brazil, serving as a global benchmark in forest management, preserving over 200,000 hectares of native forest. The company's sustainability initiatives have been recognized by media, by several industry organizations, all of which makes us proud to have you as our reliable and trusted partner. Food packaging plays such a critical role in feeding the world, and at the same time it needs to balance the impact on earth, climate, and resources, which is where sustainable processing and packaging solutions can make a strong difference. Sustainability is therefore a fundamental building block of our 2030 strategy, as part of which we aim really to be the leaders in sustainability transformation within the industry, through low-carbon circular economy solutions and by enhancing sustainability across the entire value chain. In order to do so, we have openly shared our vision and ambition on key strategic areas, supported by concrete actions that we are taking together with our customers and partners such as Klabin. Our carton packages are made of approximately 70% paper and have a lower climate impact as compared to other alternatives that exist in the market, but we intend to go further with the ambition to develop the world's most sustainable food package, that is made from responsibly sourced, fully renewable or recyclable materials, is fully recyclable and carbon neutral, supporting ambient distribution and meeting stringent food safety requirements. As a key supplier of paperboard, Klabin has a true partner role to play here, and we are already co-investing and engaging on various projects around it. Our work on innovative packaging barrier materials and adhesives derived from nanocellulose has shown exciting results, and we now plan to proceed with field tests. Going beyond our packages, we aim to decarbonize our operations as well. We have already committed to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions in our own operations and to using 100% renewable electricity by 2030, with the ambition to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions for the value chain by 2050. In this context, we are delighted to see Klabin taking an active role, being the only Brazilian company that is part of the COP 26 group of leaders, and by engaging in private initiatives in partnership with United Nations Global Compact Brazil for the importance of discussion and actions to mitigate the impact of climate change. We also remain committed to accelerate recycling of our cartons, which is why we have been investing in expanding recycling infrastructure. Today we have about 30 recyclers in Brazil, including paper and plastic aluminum recyclers. These companies use post-consumer recycled materials from our packages to make new value-added products such as tiles, pallets, notebooks, hamster boxes, etc. The recycling rate in Brazil in 2020 was up to 40%, the equivalent of 108,000 tons of carton packages. With Klabin, we have been working together on various recycling initiatives since 1998 to reduce the climate impact of our materials. We are extremely happy to see that Klabin is the largest paper recycler in Brazil and is continuing to invest in new equipment to address different regions of the country, which is great for the industry and of course for the future of Brazil. These are only a few examples from a whole range of sustainability initiatives that we are driving, and we are making sure that we are communicating this proactively to our stakeholders, to invite their support and participation in tackling the growing sustainability challenges. We recently launched our global sustainability campaign called 'Go Nature. Go Carton,' which has been introduced in Brazil and translated in Portuguese as 'Escolha Natureza, Escolha Cartão.' The campaign discusses the world's most pressing environmental challenges and highlights our commitment to be part of the solution, which is yet another reinforcement of our promise to protect what's good. To summarize, we have big sustainability ambitions for the future, and we will undoubtedly look at Klabin to be a strong supporting partner as we keep pushing forward to develop the world's most sustainable food package. I am confident that Klabin will walk together with us on this ambitious innovation journey. Thank you very much once again for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of the Innova Klabin event. I'd like to congratulate you, and I wish you well and a lot of success. Thank you very much.
