Welcome, welcome. Please, make yourselves comfortable. We give the floor to the Mayor. As written in the motion, we have found that Engineer Benedetti has for many years shown great attention and provided great help to our city, particularly in recovering the artistic and cultural heritage of Udine. I recall the last demanding project, the refurbishment of the four facades of our Castle, which taught us that thanks to his sensitivity and especially his financial help, the municipality could complete it. The works are important, including those from the previous administration, such as the arrangement of the Angel of the Castle and the tower of Giovanni da Udine. All these significant works make Udine more beautiful and culturally richer, preserving our cultural heritage, which is also your identity. Thank you, councilors, for this recognition we give to those who have brought luster to the city of Udine. It is the second time in this administration we confer honorary citizenship. I will now read the parchment: The Municipality of Udine, in sincere gratitude and highest esteem, confers upon Engineer Gianpietro Benedetti the honorary citizenship of Udine for excellence in entrepreneurship and contributions to economic development and social promotion in Friuli, making his name known worldwide, and for generous contributions to repeated conservation and restoration projects of historical monuments and urban redevelopment, enhancing cultural and service offerings, especially for younger generations. This is the wording on the diploma. To you, the city council's recognition for the good you have done. [Music] A warrior engineer, not Befana. [Applause] [Music] Now, you have the word.

Good evening everyone, thank you. This is an important recognition, I must say, that I expected. In conscience, I want to explain something perhaps less noble than what the Mayor mentioned. We have paid particular attention to the city as a whole. Obviously, there is a historical affection, given through the vineyard, thanks to the church and the oratory, with fond memories from childhood. As I grew up and invited people to Udine from all over the world—Scandinavia, America, other European countries—I must say that generally, the impression they receive of the city is positive. This is not insignificant because anyone commissioning plants that can cost 100 to 500 million euros instinctively associates during visits the environment's dignity with the company, and finds it linked to possible work quality and life credibility, as the social and cultural context in which one grows influences the company's importance in people's minds and lives. With this true concept and a somewhat commercial attitude, I have always tried to care for the society and city for the little we have done to maintain this positive impression for our clients. This is the truth beyond the rush, because the dignity of an environment is synonymous with civilization, maturity, and culture of the people. So, this recognition, I thank everyone, I find it challenging, and now feel it as something that might prevent me from doing even more, but I will try to do something better to balance the give and take, which is normal in everyone's life. Thank you all, I wish you good work in maintaining our city, painting it, and continuing to give this civilized impression. Thanks.
