When considering the current state of Latin America, there are very small software houses, and some founders are creating their own intellectual property. This situation is very similar to when we started in Japan. Looking ahead about three years, game software development companies in Latin America are producing hit titles, and I feel their strength. Since Latin America is now entering the market, we want to create hit titles with Latin American people, which is why we are considering this region.
I, for instance, in August last year, had discussions with representatives, and we agreed to support each other. This is part of our overseas strategy, and Latin America is expected to grow significantly as a base.
The purpose of this contest is to discover talented individuals in game development within Latin America. Together with these people, we plan to develop games for the Latin American market in collaboration with Spanish-speaking partners.
The selected individuals will work with us to create games for Latin America. They may form groups including programmers and scenario writers, or be part of a company. We will collaborate with them in various situations.
Game software is part of the entertainment industry, similar to movies, novels, music. We seek talent in all these fields, and for games, we look for those with professional skills to create them. We are searching for talented individuals in game development.
We are also reaching out to university students and graduates. In past contests at Square Enix, winners have included high school students who later became famous teams in Japan.
The games will be judged by experts who know games well. I will also review them, but primarily, we will rely on their evaluation and decide together.
We will use the results of this contest to make decisions. The timeline is: submissions close on August 31st, judging in October, then from late October to late November, selected games will be tested by users, and final winners will be chosen in December.
The categories with high growth potential are mobile and social games, which is why we have included them in this contest.
Square Enix is currently planning to expand into Latin America. Although the specific country is not decided yet, we will soon establish a base and, with Latin American developers, create hit titles for the region.
We want participants to express their ideas in the games. From our perspective, this is valuable. Please show us your vision. We want to create games for Latin America with you, aiming for global success.
