Key Quotes (2)

“What we're talking about here is reinforcement, not replacement. In fact, what we're really talking about here is energy addition.”

▶ 5:32 POLICY

“Policies should be pragmatic, not performative. Policies should be based on insight, not ideology, built on first principles, not fleeting popularity. Because regulation without realism and legislation without logic will only weaken economies, stunt societies, and drive capital away.”

About Sultan Al Jaber

At an Atlantic Council event on May 13, 2026, Sultan Al Jaber discussed the global energy landscape following the UAE's departure from OPEC and the impact of the war with Iran. He described the closure of the Hormuz Strait as "the most severe supply disruption on record," noting that the world has lost over a billion barrels of oil and that Brent crude is trading 40% above pre-closure levels. Al Jaber stated that the UAE's exit from OPEC was a "sovereign strategic decision" made to allow greater flexibility for investment, growth, and partnerships, and he asserted that outside OPEC the UAE would remain a "disciplined, responsible, credible, reliable, and a stabilizing force" in global energy markets. Al Jaber also addressed the UAE's relationship with the United States, describing it as built on "trust, conviction, passion, and credibility." He emphasized that the UAE's model of inclusivity and stability has been tested and proven, and that the country continues to attract investment and trust even during difficult periods. He projected that oil demand would stay above 100 million barrels per day into the 2040s and highlighted the growing strategic importance of natural gas for power generation, AI infrastructure, and economic growth.
