A very warm welcome to the HARTING approach at this year's Hannover Digital Fair. The Hannover Fair is this year just digital due to the Corona pandemic. As you know from HARTING, we are always at another fair in Hannover, but this year unfortunately we are promoting all our topics live from EspaCamp, from our new exhibition center. And as you know from HARTING, we want to give you our highlights. We will give you an overview about our connectivity trends and what are really the big challenges around us. Please follow me and I will give you a short overview.
HARTING is one of the big players in the transportation business. There is no train without HARTING products — cabling systems between the wagons for giving power to the wagons and for signaling. What we are offering to these new high-speed trains, metro trains, or medium fast trains is new technology with the main topics of energy consumption and weight reduction. Every reduced pound is bringing down the carbon footprint on the life cycle. You can optimize your carbon footprint. One kilo is bringing down your energy consumption and the carbon footprint for miles and miles.
HARTING is offering with this new testing center the equipped products and cabling systems, here with the new HARTING Variokit, with its own certification so that this is transportation-proofed. This is what we are doing here in EspaCamp with our new testing center — highly proofed, certified, and tested equipment for all transportation requirements around the world.
Let me come from these big rectangular connectors more to the smaller ones — to these M12, for example. This is for signaling in the train, for all these information technology in new high-speed trains, for passenger information, for bringing all these comfort aspects to the passengers. HARTING is one of these big players around the world. We have a very long tradition and we are very proud to be really one of these suppliers for all train concepts around the world.
Energy consumption and sustainability is a very big topic — not even in the transportation business or even in producing renewable energy. For example, what are you doing when you are having a windmill to produce energy at your home, or a roof panel with solar? You need these central storage systems, and HARTING is developing together with partners new connectivity for these decentral storage systems. This is with front connection and this is with the back side — all solutions are safe, easy to use, and bringing the energy to this application they need. These are some of the examples of decentral and stationary storage systems.
You know that e-mobility is one of these big changes of the automotive world. HARTING is a supplier for energy loading systems, for wall boxes, for example AC technology. Together with various energy partners, we are offering these cabling systems for stationary loading, and even inside there are many HARTING products. We are talking about station systems, wall boxes at home. You see this big trend of high current voltage, of high current solutions. This example here is together with a manufacturer of super sports cars in the southern region of Germany — it's Porsche — and this is a cool system to bring this high voltage to the car. You can speed up, push your car battery in ten minutes from zero to eighty percent.
If you don't cool them, it would get really hot, or you need a bigger size of copper cable, and that is not usable, not nice to handle. This solution we are offering to the Volkswagen concern, the Volkswagen Group. We are a Tier 1 supplier, even with BMW, and we are very proud that we got some awards — for example from the Volkswagen Group — that we are one of these global and awarded suppliers for e-mobility solutions.
E-mobility, sustainability, digitalization of our industrial world — that means the industrial transformation is going on. It needs digital solutions, it needs high data rates to bring information down from the cloud, over the PCB, down to the field. HARTING is offering really convincing examples and products for the past, for PCB business. You see, for example, the overmolded M12, the HaV flex, and the very popular IX Industrial. And new is this HAR-modular, based on the idea to develop a module with different inserts and possibility to bring down to lot size one. We are offering one billion solutions to our customers to configure their own HAR-modular and to bring data, signal, and power on the PCB.
In this infrastructure solution for digitalization and automation, it's necessary to bring down all these data to the field — from the PCB down to the field. You see here this new SPE — Single Pair Ethernet. HARTING, together with other partners in the SPE network, is developing this new infrastructure. It's a kind of game changer. What does SPE mean? First, lower energy consumption. Second, higher data rates. And third, lightweight — one pair is enough, meaning half the weight of copper, with higher data rates. A new infrastructure and new ecosystems of SPE are growing for the future. All industrial transformation needs high data volumes, high data rates, and these lightweight products.
You see a lot of examples — for example this HARTING T1 Industrial, the first product of connectivity based on the SPE tech standard. You see the HARTING IX Industrial as successor to the RJ45, and even our preLink systems, for IP65 and IP20 standards. This is a question and topic of miniaturization too. But please follow me, it could be more tiny, it could be more miniaturized. Okay, please follow me.
Our colleagues from the MID section in Switzerland, in Biel, are offering MID modules. Please come to me and have a close look with your camera on these really detailed and fine structures of contacts — this 3D molded lens. These modules are integrated in car radar systems, in LiDAR systems, or in medical applications. You really need the surroundings and the infrastructure to bring data, signal, and power to your application. And it's really fantastic to see. Look at this — looks like Star Wars with their flight ships. I don't see Han Solo, but Han Solo is another question.
