About Hock Tan

Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom, appeared on CNBC's "Mad Money" with Jim Cramer on September 14, 2026, to discuss the company's performance amid market concerns about AI spending. Tan stated that demand for AI compute infrastructure, including frontier model development and inference, remains "very strong" and "durable." He noted that Broadcom serves six customers creating frontier models, describing two of them, OpenAI and Anthropic, as "cash flow poor" but "valuation rich" due to their technology. Tan also addressed calls for a slowdown in AI development, saying safeguards can be implemented without slowing progress, and he expressed confidence in continued strength in productized inference. During Broadcom's Q3 FY26 earnings call on September 2, 2026, Tan reported that the company has "line of sight" for fiscal 2028 AI semiconductor revenue to double to $230 billion, with supply secured to meet that outlook. He also stated that Broadcom expects to ship $350 billion of AI semiconductors to customers over the next two years. In a July 27, 2026 meeting with South Korean officials, Tan discussed Broadcom's collaboration with Samsung and SK Hynix on advanced high-bandwidth memory (HBM) development and integration into its chips. He also expressed commitment to supporting Korea's vision for "AI sovereign" and helping build the country as a global AI hub, noting work with local startups creating custom semiconductors for their large language models.
