Did Michael Saylor sell his Bitcoin or didn't he?
Crypto Twitter spent the week in a frenzy: Strategy sold 32 Bitcoin, and the man who built his entire reputation on "never sell" suddenly looked like he broke his own rule. So we sat down with Michael Saylor at BTC Prague to get the real story, straight from the source.
Saylor breaks down the difference between what he does personally and what Strategy does as a treasury company with a fiduciary duty. He explains why selling 32 Bitcoin (two basis points) while buying 175,000 this year is not the contradiction it looks like, why defending the...

Michael Saylor said 2026 is the year Bitcoin became consensus global digital capital, with digital credit now an $11 billion asset class that enabled MicroStrategy to buy 175,000 Bitcoin in a bear market. He dismissed the current 50% drawdown as less severe than 2022's 75%, citing improved fundamentals: presidential support, SEC and CFTC backing, better accounting and tax rules, 75% of major banks supporting Bitcoin, and $100 billion in ETFs. He defended selling 32 Bitcoin as two basis points, calling it rational and tax-efficient to support dividends, and stressed the company's transparency with stats updated every 15 seconds. He claimed the enterprise value grew from $600 million to $85 billion. He said if Bitcoin stalls for 40 years, they have 30-40 years of dividend coverage, and if it appreciates 3% annually, dividends can be paid forever. He advised individuals to buy Bitcoin for four years or longer and never sell.

First of all, welcome to the show and taking the time here in Prague to spend some time with us. First question: how are you and what has been your experience over the past few weeks being in the markets and everything surrounding you?
It's all invigorating and entertaining. The markets are chaotic, but one of the benefits of Bitcoin is something interesting is always going on. It's the most interesting asset in the world. When the president tweets, Bitcoin goes up or down. I can tell whether something was good or bad just by looking at the Bitcoin price.
2026 is the year Bitcoin emerged as consensus global digital capital. Digital credit is now an $11 billion asset class, up from zero 12 months ago. It allowed us to buy 175,000 Bitcoin in a bear market. Now we see a path to digital money pegged to fiat currencies backed by Bitcoin. The holy trinity of capital, credit, and money can tap into trillions. In the near-term, there's a bear market and a massive AI black hole pulling capital away from crypto. AI companies like SpaceX and Google are slurping up $500 billion, and Bitcoin is currently undervalued. After the IPO summer, capital will flow back into Bitcoin.
You know, probably the third quarter and I think by the fourth quarter things will be normalizing to our benefit. Is there ever a point where you start questioning the entire thesis of Bitcoin when it has been underperforming so heavily, with the gap between M2 supply and Bitcoin growing larger?
No, I feel comfortable with Bitcoin. We've seen five major drawdowns in five years. The current 50% drawdown is less than the 75% in 2022. You need a four-year time horizon. Fundamentals have improved dramatically: the president supports Bitcoin, the SEC and CFTC are supportive, accounting rules and tax laws have improved, 75% of major banks now support it, and there are a hundred billion dollars in ETFs. Bitcoin dominance has returned to 70%. It's an unstoppable digital monetary network. It's like Amazon in 2010 or Apple in 2012. Conventional wisdom will eventually embrace it, and we'll have a Warren Buffett moment for Bitcoin.
