It is a great pleasure and honor to preside over the 18th convocation of IIT Guwahati. The institute has come a long way since its inception 22 years ago and is making rapid strides as a preeminent institution for scientific and technological studies and cutting-edge research. It has been rated as one of the best institutes in the country. To the young graduates, today marks an important milestone. You entered through intense competition and pursued your academic work with dedication. Congratulations to you and your parents, teachers, and guides. The journey does not end here; you must meet uncertainties and challenges with an undisturbed attitude. Keep working hard for your dreams. You belong to the IIT tradition, which has built the brand image of contemporary India. Many alumni have achieved great pride. Today, premier institutes must reposition themselves to train young minds to lead from the front. With this dream, when I was given the opportunity to steer IIT Guwahati to the next level, a team resolved to work relentlessly to improve the curriculum, align it with future industry and national needs, and create centers of excellence so that graduates are ready to handle future challenges. We live in a world where knowledge is key to economic growth. India has traditionally valued knowledge building. We must tap our human capital to create growth and remove unemployment. Over the last few years, a historic change has happened in our country with a leadership chosen by absolute majority, focused on making India great again. People like us want to rededicate ourselves to building and re-establishing the dominance of IITs. We champion IIT Guwahati by improving curriculums and aligning to global standards. The new administration's policies, like Make in India, Digital India, minimum government maximum governance, and inclusiveness, require dedication and hard work from all of you. High-quality education and R&D hold the key to advancement. Industry-academic interaction through research parks is an ideal platform. I am happy that through the leadership of our director and support of the senate, we will establish new industry-academic interactions. This is a proud moment for you and your parents.
