5:32Beyond AI, which futuristic technologies is Ericsson focused on?
8:09So will Ericsson help telcos solve the monetization problem by opening up APIs, resulting in use cases and ensuring telcos monetize their 5G investments?
9:02With companies like SpaceX and Starlink, do you think in four to five years there will be convergence between terrestrial and satellite networks, with LEO satellites playing a larger role?
10:36Are we on the right path for faster, affordable spectrum for 5G Advanced and 6G?
12:42What are your views, and how is Ericsson ensuring confidence in networks?
14:58As CTO, has the work taken more importance in developing newer telecom technologies?
The new thing is that SMBs, enterprises, hospitals, and manufacturing are all going for 5G. AI applications in smartphones moving into glasses will put new requirements on networks. India has taken important decisions enabling the fastest 5G rollout. A forward-looking government ensures enough spectrum. We have been in India since 1903 and expanded our portfolio in Bangalore, Chennai, and Gurgaon.
So we are attending IMC. We have met before covering mobile world congress. Now that you have joined IMC this year, what experience have you had with stakeholders? What change do you see in the Indian market now?
I think it's a good starting point. The energy at IMC25 is bustling. India has one of the world's strongest 5G networks, so it's not about deployment anymore, but what you can do with the technology for enterprises. We are moving into the second wave of 5G.
Indian government officials and the prime minister talked about 6G and India's aspiration to contribute to 3GPP standards. Do you think starting early to have a say in the new standard is the right strategy?
I think so. Telecom is a long-term investment. The second wave starts with 5G evolving to 6G. The new thing is SMBs, enterprises, and hospitals using 5G. Then 6G comes because requirements from these use cases are not satisfied with 5G. Planning for a 2030 timeframe needs to start now.
AI is everywhere. AI applications in smartphones and glasses put new requirements on networks. We serve operators with the best network for AI through 5G standalone, network slicing, and APIs. We have also built AI into the network for operational efficiency and differentiated services.
The other side is autonomous functions in the network. They give operational efficiency and the ability to differentiate services for different sectors. AI-enabled autonomous networks at level 4 open growth opportunities for operators.
