I'd say that the way we frame it, I don't know if you agree, Mark, but if you look at the size of the AI economy, it's pretty comparable to energy. Energy is something you need. When you're thinking about energy as a company or as a state, you think of it in three pillars in general. So you have security of supply. So you want to make sure that you have enough energy, enough molecules, enough electrons. You have affordability of it. So again, it's linked to the cost aspect. And then you have sustainability of it because it has a massive footprint on the environment as well. So AI is exactly the same. And so as a country, you need to think of the security of it, which means that you're going to import some of it, but you can't import too much of it, otherwise it's dependency. You'd better export that technology so that you have leverage, and you'd better build that technology yourself. So that's the reason why you see a lot of different companies, us included, actually build some computing infrastructure and build the services on top to serve countries in a way that is decoupled from foreign interest. And that matters because that brings you the security and affordability of it. And so, thinking of AI as we think about energy, I think is the right way of thinking about the long-term strategy of a state, of a company, and that's something we try to bring to our customers and to our state matters as well.

The thing I would say, I agree with all of that, but just slightly different. And I'm Canadian, so we're kind of a little bit jealous. We wish we were European. Especially in this moment. Well, no, we haven't been invited yet. So I mean, you can talk to the president, maybe he can advocate for us. But I think there's a phrase where we're having exactly these same conversations in Canada. And you look at our dependencies and how concentrated our economy is on one trading partner. Like, you know, many people heard our prime minister in Davos earlier this year saying, you know, we need to have the middle powers come together. So it's very much the same conversation in Canada. But one of the messages I've been trying to get through, and I think it's been heard in Ottawa, is that sovereignty is not solitude. Doing it just as yourself to get the things you're talking about is going to be a hard play. It's about where you collaborate with the people you trust, just like in business. And the argument I've also made, and I think it fits with yours, and it fits actually with what's in the European framework that came out a couple of weeks ago on AI, is that open source is a key lever. It has properties in it that lend themselves to that kind of sovereignty because I can fork it. I can take stuff that came from another country. I want it to be a country I trust, and I can make it mine. I'm not borrowing it, renting it. They can't shut the lights off. And so, I think there is a piece about open source that lets it be something you own, something you adapt, that lets you have sovereignty without having to make it all yourself, and to lean on, you know, this trading partner that you trust for this or this trading partner you trust for that or do it yourself and get them to use what you built. So there's a kind of a — I think it's important to see open source in the context of this, and I've been happy to see that both in the Canadian AI strategy and in these more recent European frameworks, the idea that open source plays this role is starting to get currency amongst governments.

I mean, it's pretty clear that there are so many people who actually need that platform to succeed that it's eventually going to succeed. Now, the question is how fast can we actually grow it? How can we finance it? How can we partner together with multiple companies, with multiple organizations that have the same interest so that we make the kind of size of the investments that are needed to actually build large models? And I think if I look back from three years ago, I think the willingness to invest and to make that the common platform is much higher because now people actually understand the power of the technology itself. It used not to be the case. Like three years ago people would say, 'Okay, it's a chatbot. Why do we need to care?' Now it turns out it's going to operate a lot of the economy, so maybe we need to care. So I'm very optimistic about the fact that it's only going to grow and that there are so many companies, countries, people that believe in that to be the right outcome for humanity that it's going to succeed.

Yeah, and I would say something similar unsurprisingly. I do think if you're talking five years, certainly ten years, that the dominant pieces of AI, the LEGO blocks, the building blocks you have are going to be open source just like they are in, you know, the rest of what we build with tech. And there's a lot of momentum around that. And the momentum is not an inevitability. So that's the outcome I think will happen, but all the things you just said about partnering, building, figuring out the right things, making it easy to use pieces of the open source stack with other pieces of the open source stack, that is the journey and that's the hard work of companies. It's the hard work of innovation, you know, funding, it's the hard work of R&D labs. We have a way to go and there is momentum, but I do think there's enough momentum and focus and, you know, companies who are building smart things like Mistral, that we will get there and open source will win.
