This is going to be a nice day today. These guys here will be going out to asphalt sites to collect planings and then returning with some asphalt to lay a nice new road.
Supervisor 0:17 ↗
All righty. Good morning everybody. Yesterday for first shift alone, we shipped out 2.3 million pounds. An exceptional good day. Let's have a safe, productive day. Thank y'all. Let's get it going. These guys are best in the business right here. Ready to rock. We are now entering deep drive. Yall know what deep drive is, right? It's going to be a lot of people out there. Your job is critical. We don't want any cars coming on that parade route. So, we must be in place. Let's go. All right.

I come out to science once twice a week and when I come out I just do compliance checks. I will check their samsara for one to make sure that they've carried it out and two to make sure they've carried it out correctly. The land ashfelt 10 mil SMA. We lay it down and the roller rolls it in. It's as simple as that. Raphael, you get all my information now. Let's go. I am not dropping that. Thank you, sir. Smooth sailing. I copy that rider off the float. I don't think I have a bike team down there yet to that location. Marty Grog, it's an amazing event. All we can do is just provide and be ready to have services available for any patient that we could encounter. Having this technology shows me exactly what I'm working with. There's so many different aspects of what we do. The technology helps with every operation within Conway. Our routes, navigation, logs, we have all that in one place. In this day and time, we really need it. Technology, you're either on board or you're going to get left behind.

All right. Well, good morning everyone and welcome to Samsara Beyond. Let's give it up. It is great to be here in San Diego. We have thousands of folks here in the audience, and I think even more joining online. It's just awesome to see everyone. It's also amazing to think about how many different industries are represented here today. We've got teams from oil and gas, construction, food and beverage, local governments, and more. We have teams that have flown in from all over. I've had a chance to say hi to teams from Mexico and Canada. I saw the teams come in from the UK last night at dinner. They took an 11-hour flight. It's absolutely incredible. I just want to say thank you for joining us at this event. We're excited to get things going, excited for the partnership, and of course all your feedback. I also want to start today with a thank you to your teams, the frontline you just saw in the video, the folks that keep our planet running every single day. Let's give it up for them, too. We at Samsara are so proud to be your technology partner, and that's what we're here today to talk about: technology in physical operations. I personally love seeing the real-world impact of all this technology because it helps make people's jobs a little bit safer, a little easier, and more efficient every day. And we're able to do it at scale. We're talking about hundreds of millions, billions of frontline workers where technology can really help. Before we talk about the future, I'd like to talk about how we got here. This is something we think about a lot at Samsara: of course, what's next, but what's the pattern? How does this technology make its way out? How does it maximize impact? As I've thought about this, I've noticed a pattern myself, which is that there have been three enormous waves of technology change and impact that we all in this room and online have experienced together. So I'd like to start by talking about those waves. I think you'll see the same pattern that we've seen and how they've all changed the world.
So the first big wave we've all experienced together in technology was a wave of computation. For many of us, this happened when we were kids. I still remember the first time I saw a computer in action. It was like magic. You turn the thing on and instantly it could do all kinds of calculations. It could reformat documents. It was absolutely incredible. And I wasn't the only person that thought these were amazing machines. Because they were so useful, they started making their way out in the millions back in the 80s and 90s. And they started appearing everywhere: in homes, in schools, in offices. They were so useful that they changed the world. Now it took a little bit of time. It took about 25 years for this computer infrastructure to get built out. And for many folks, this is their first major exposure to new technology. So they had to learn how it all worked. Eventually we got to some scale. By the early 2000s, there were a billion desktop computers out there. And then they all started getting connected up. We had dialup internet and then broadband. That's what led to the next big wave of technology change that we all experienced together, which was communication. I think this really got going when the smartphone came out. We all remember this. Back in 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone and it changed the world. Android phones came soon after and we started picking these things up by the millions and fast. These led to completely different changes in the world in terms of how we communicate. We couldn't just send text messages to each other. That was interesting. But you could now make video calls. You could form social networks. You could hail a cab, order a sandwich, do whatever you wanted on this device. It was even more magical and even more useful. And this time it took only eight years for this technology to reach a billion users. That's three times as fast. And I think that reflects just how amazing this technology was. And I personally can't imagine life without a smartphone anymore. And one of the other interesting things about this is the second wave built on the first one. Because we all knew how to use computers, because the internet existed, we were able to take advantage of those two things and build on top. And so the second wave happened even faster than the first. And now we are experiencing yet another wave, a third wave of world-changing technology, and that's artificial intelligence. I'd like to do a quick show of hands survey. How many of you all have asked an AI a question this week? Look around the room. That's pretty much everyone. That is absolutely incredible to think about because this is a technology that most of us hadn't even seen as of 2 years ago. ChatGPT launched in 2023. That feels like just yesterday. And it's truly magical. It's truly amazing, useful technology. And you can use it for pretty much anything. You could ask it, 'What are some great places to check out in San Diego?' Or maybe have it help you plan a vacation. You could ask it about a medical issue that's been bugging you. You can pretty much ask it anything. And this is the most powerful wave yet. We saw it in the show of hands, but this is a technology that's reached a billion users in just 2 years, right? So, think about that. It took 25 years for computers, 8 years for smartphones, and just two years for AI.
That is so incredible. It's so fast and it's happening fast because we're ready for it. And at this point, we're entering an entirely new era, the age of intelligence. And like computation and communication, this idea of cognition, this idea that computers can think for us, it's so incredible and so useful, especially in our world of physical operations. Imagine with me for a second if your operations had access to basically infinite safety experts, right? You had AI safety experts in your corner analyzing all the different risks that are out there in the world. Risk related to traffic or construction or weather, using real-time data, helping basically warn drivers ahead of time what might be ahead. You could also imagine an AI maintenance expert, a computer that's analyzing all the billions of sensor readings coming off your equipment, looking for patterns, a computer that understood what might break and when, and helped you figure out which assets to take offline and maintain ahead of time so it didn't break out in the field. You can imagine this for routing. You could have a computer that every morning would figure out, okay, who are the customers that need to be seen? Who are the best people to go see them? Who's on shift? All that kind of stuff. Plan the route automatically with weather and traffic and make it optimized. You can think about this for inventory. You could even think about it for customer service. You could have bots that answer the phone as experts. No wait time. Answer day or night, take care of your customers with next level service. And we at Samsara, we're excited about this, too. And we want to help bring all of this amazing technology into your operations so that you can operate smarter. And the best part about this is these ideas aren't a decade away. They're here and they're here now. And for the last year since we met at Beyond, we've been busy. We've been busy building these new products and features so that you can bring AI into your operations and we're ready to show you what we've been working on and we'd love to get your feedback. And we think at Samsara that the best way to understand new technology is to see it live. So to help us with that, I'm going to invite on stage our chief product officer who also happens to be our chief demo officer, Kieran Saker.
Kieran Saker 10:57 ↗
Leading the product organization over the last decade and having the privilege of partnering with you and your teams to build our platform has been an incredible personal experience. But I've got to say that the work our teams are doing together right now to take that vision that Sanjit just shared and bring it to life, it is the most exciting work we've done yet. I've been out in the field with you and your teams learning about how this new technology can have the biggest impact in your operations and I can see that the potential is immense and this is going to be a multi-year journey that we take together but we're making a big big step forward today with the largest set of new product announcements we've ever made and we'd like to show them to you with live demos walking us through a day in the life of operations. We're going to start where your drivers start. I know that when your drivers are starting their shift, it's cold, it's raining, they've got a big day ahead, they're not thinking about the age of intelligence and AI the way I am. They're thinking, 'How do I get my dang DVIR out of the way so I can get on with my day and hit the road?' The DVIR, the driver's vehicle inspection report, is the walkaround inspection that many of your drivers do to start their day. It's an important ritual to make sure that the vehicle is safe and it's properly maintained. And these are incredibly important for keeping teams safe and also preventing unplanned downtime on the road. And as a matter of fact, it's so useful, it's become the number one workflow on our platform. Your drivers are collectively completing a quarter of a billion with a B DVIRs in Samsara every single year. So having the DVIR in the app is really useful, but we know it's not a solved problem yet. Sometimes drivers, they're in a hurry. They might take some shortcuts and instead of getting out of the vehicle performing that walkaround inspection, sometimes they get pencil whipped from inside the cab. So, we try to find ways around that, like requiring the driver to take photos. And sometimes you then find photos of a driver's shoes and the bottom of the truck floor. And this is an industry-wide problem. It turns out that 60% of all DOT violations are maintenance related. So, we wanted to see how could we use AI to help with the DVIR. How can we make sure that vehicles are safe before they hit the road? And how can we make this experience a little bit easier on drivers as well? We'd like to show you what we built. And to do that, I would like to introduce you to our VP of connected workforce, standing next to our very own Samsara truck, Max Rankeret. Max,
Max Rankeret 14:12 ↗
Thanks, Kieran. The number one thing we hear from many of you, if you want to make sure drivers actually walk around the vehicle, I'm excited to show you how we can now do that with AI. It's going to start my day, open up a DVIR, and you'll notice this map here that's telling me if I'm close to the vehicle or not. So, I can't do the DVIR from home or from far away. I actually need to be close to the vehicle. So, that's the first quality check. And now I need to take a picture of the front of the truck, but I'm going to try to see if I can beat the system. I'm going to pick a photo from my camera roll. That's an old photo that I took a while back. Let's try that out. Oh, the system's smart. It figures out that this is an old photo. Doesn't work. Okay, so I'm going to have to try something else. What if I try taking a picture of the back of the truck? Let's see if that works. The AI is analyzing the photo. It's seeing if that's the back of the truck. And in a few seconds, it'll tell me, nope, that's not the back of the truck. That's the front of the truck. This thing is really smart. Okay, so I'm actually going to have to walk to the front of the truck and actually do this inspection. Walk to the front. I'm going to take a picture of the front of the truck. I'm going to check the lights. Those look good. Windshield looks good. The AI told me that's actually the front of the truck. Good job, Max. And as I'm walking around, you may have noticed that we've got a flat tire here. All right. And before when I wanted to, if I wanted to type a note, it would have been really slow. And honestly, the notes would have been short and the quality wasn't that great. But now, we can dictate a note. So, let's try that out. The front left tire needs to be replaced. We've got a flat tire. Please fix this as soon as possible. You'll notice the AI is transcribing what I just said in real time. I take a picture of the flat tire. Super simple, very streamlined for the driver. All right, this is an unsafe DVIR. Going to add my signature and I'll submit it. And with that, back to you, Kieran.

It's a very simple, practical application of AI that makes for an easier experience for our drivers and make sure our vehicles are safe when they hit the road. Now, let's look at the perspective of the back office teams who are going to receive that DVIR in the dashboard. Maybe that's your fleet manager or your maintenance coordinator. So, let's pull up the dashboard. And here we can see the vehicle maintenance status for our truck. We see the new defect that Max logged with the tire and the photo. It's all here instantly. But if I go back, can also see that there are a couple other issues with this vehicle. And we have all of that visibility in one place. I see a couple of engine faults. Now, these fault codes, unless you're a really experienced mechanic, can be really hard to understand. Many of you are getting thousands, tens of thousands of fault codes across your fleet every single month. And it can be very challenging to figure out which are the important ones that you need to act on. This is another great application for AI. So if I open up one of these fault codes, the AI will actually interpret it for me. It's telling me this is a high priority fault code. It helps me understand what it means. This has to do with the after treatment system. And most importantly, it tells me about the risks of continuing to operate with this fault code active. Telling me I've got, you know, potential regulatory implications. We've got vehicle performance impact and it could make the problem worse. So, this looks like something I need to take care of. And the AI actually tells me what I need to do to troubleshoot and repair this issue. If I got more questions, I can just pull up the Samsara assistant and I can ask it, 'What tools does a mechanic need?' And it's going to use specific context of this vehicle, repair manuals, information about this fault code and its history to tell us what we need to do to investigate and get this vehicle back on the road. So, I can see we've got the tire issue. We've got a couple of high priority, high severity faults. This vehicle needs some help. Now, at this point, traditionally, we would move outside of the Samsara platform into our third party maintenance application. And I know that some of you have access to some really high-quality maintenance software, but we hear that many of you are working in legacy systems. They're difficult to use. your maintenance teams get out of sync with the teams operating the fleet on the road and the systems don't have the data and the intelligence to help you really understand and optimize your maintenance programs. So, as a result, your trucks are boomeranging in and out of the shop. You're having unplanned downtime and your costs are going up. We wanted to help solve this problem. And so I'm very excited to announce that starting now we offer complete end-to-end maintenance management directly in Samsara. Let's take a look. Let's pull up the dashboard. And we can see now with a single click, I can create a work order. It's going to pull in the repairs we need for these fault codes and the tire. But it's also looking ahead. it sees that we have an oil change due in just a few thousand miles and it's going to be lower cost for us to go ahead and take care of that now rather than have to pull that truck off the road again in a couple of weeks. So with one click I create the work order. It has all the information about the vehicle about the issues we need to repair. And now I can assign it. I can schedule it. and my maintenance team, my fleet team, they're all working out of the same system. It's seamless. So, this is great for making it easy to get the right work done and keeping our teams in sync. It also gives us very rich information about maintenance activity and costs so we can understand how to improve efficiency. If I look at our cost tab now, we can see that we're seeing all of our vehicle costs. What's our breakdown between labor, between parts and fuel? How do my costs compare between different regions, different categories of work orders or service tasks? Which of my makes and models are most efficient? This is next level information that helps us really get efficient with our maintenance. And this is the happy path, right? When everyone's working in the same system and the data is clean. But we know that most of you rely at least in part on third party mechanics. And so when you send a vehicle out to a third party shop, they're not working in your system. They don't have your service task descriptions, your parts codes. You get the vehicle back. It's all fixed up. And you get an invoice. And that invoice looks something like this. It's got a bunch of line items on it. And these line items don't match the service tasks in your system. So, if you want to figure out what's actually going on and analyze maintenance across your fleet, you've got to go take this line by line and translate it into your maintenance system. And for a smaller invoice like this, that might take 10 minutes. For a complex job, we hear your teams are spending half an hour plus each time, and these are happening day in and day out. It's painstaking. It's work that no one wants to do. and we wanted to see if there's a way we could solve this with AI as well. And I'm excited to share that we found a way to do that. So now back in the dashboard, we have our work order. And let's say I send this out to a third party mechanic to take care of. Now all I have to do is import the invoice directly into Samsara. And I'm going to upload the file. And the AI is going to analyze it line by line. It is going to actually understand and reason about each of the line items and figure out what's what are parts, what are labor expenses, what are our service tasks that these translate to. It does that all almost instantly. And now we can see a complete service history filled out in just a couple of seconds with zero manual data entry. What do you think? So this is maintenance in Samsara. Excited for all of your teams to try it.
How else can data and intelligence make our operations more efficient? Well, when the vehicles are out on the road, Samsara gives you great tools to help improve the efficiency and safety when you're out executing routes. But what about the process of planning those routes before vehicles hit the road? This is another case where traditionally this work has happened outside of Samsara. Many of you have teams of route planners who take the set of orders for the day and figure out how do you assemble them into a sequence of stops. How do you divide them between your vehicles and your drivers and then execute them? And your route planning team are typically using external software applications and again we're hearing from you these are often legacy systems. They don't have access to the data that you'd really need to optimize a route. They don't have access to historical route runs. They don't know how much time your drivers are spending at each stop. They often don't have traffic and weather information. And even their road information can quickly get out of date. And often these systems are inflexible. They're difficult and costly to configure. And so you're not able to change and adapt them as your fleet changes or as your customers needs change. So we wanted to figure out how we could use intelligence to help your teams plan more efficient routes so you can serve your customers with more on-time arrivals and do that with fewer vehicles, fewer hours, less fuel. And I'm excited to share now that we offer enterprise-grade data-driven route planning and optimization directly in Samsara. All right, let's pull up the dashboard and take a look. Now, let's imagine that we are running a food and beverage distribution organization. We distribute food products to restaurants and event venues across the US, including right here in San Diego. And we want to plan our routes for the day ahead. We'll start by bringing in our orders. And we can do that through an API integration, of course, but here I am just going to import a CSV. It's going to pull in my orders and plot them all in the map right here. And now for each of these orders, we can see all of the information we need in order to complete a route plan. We can see the customer information, the address where this order needs to go out. We know how long we expect the driver to take at each stop, how many items, how much they weigh, and what skills we need in order to complete this order. Here we can see about half of these orders require refrigeration. the other half of our 75 orders, they don't. Other skills you could conclude here would be things like heavy orders that require a liftgate or a pallet jack or maybe orders that require a driver who has hazardous material certifications. All of that can be encapsulated here. So, next we will set how we want to plan our routes starting with what equipment we have available. Here we've got a total of eight trucks, four refrigerated, four non-refrigerated. And the system is smart enough to know that the refrigerated trucks, these are going to cost more per hour or per mile than the non-refrigerated trucks. They require more fuel, more maintenance. They're more expensive assets. So, it's going to take that into account. Now, we have different ways we can plan our routes. We can have strategic routes. We can set territories. Here, I'm going to keep it simple. I just want to make all of these 75 deliveries. I want to do it with the lowest possible cost, and I want to make sure I don't have any overtime hours. We run 8 hour shifts, but I want to have an hour for pre and post-trip activities. So, we'll say maximum of seven hours per driver. We'll go ahead and save this off. And I'm going to click generate routes. And what the system is now doing is it's looking at all of this information. How far apart are the stops? Which orders need refrigeration? How many orders can fit on a given vehicle? What are the road restrictions? What are the traffic patterns? How much stop time do I need? And in less than a minute, it's going to take all 75 orders and assemble them into a set of routes. Wasn't that easy? Super easy, but most important, it's incredibly efficient. If we look up top, you see that it was actually able to figure out how to do all 75 orders without using my eight vehicles. It was able to do it with just six vehicles with no overtime, just under 350 miles. This is incredibly efficient and is an awesome tool for route planners. Now, from here, I can put myself in the shoes of the driver and see what their day is going to look like. So, we can see one of these routes, for example, starts at my distribution center. And now we can move our way through each stop, see what they're going to face on the road ahead, and if I need to, I can make any adjustments to the route plan. I can drop in stop notes for my driver. I can do it all in one place. These are looking really good, the way the system planned them out. So, I'm just going to go ahead and click publish. And now these routes are available throughout Samsara for us to dispatch our drivers and monitor end to end. That is route planning and optimization in Samsara. It ships later this summer. Looking forward to all of you having a chance to try it.
All right. What we just saw is an awesome tool for our back office teams who are planning routes. But what about our drivers? They are going to see the route stops in the Samsara driver app. But from there, when they want to figure out how to get from stop to stop to stop. Historically, they would turn to a third party navigation application. We know that many of you are operating commercial vehicles, but your drivers are still using consumer-based mapping products like Google Maps or Waze. And the challenge with these apps is they're not aware of commercial road restrictions, right? We see weight limits, height limits, hazardous material restrictions. The consumer mapping applications don't take any of this into account. And so your driver might start on their route and find that their 53 foot tractor trailer is routed onto a small residential road where that truck isn't allowed. Or a tall truck is routed through an underpass that it can't clear. Or a truck with explosive or hazardous materials routed through a tunnel where it's not allowed. And in the best case, your driver ends up turning around and they're 45 minutes late for the next stop. In the worst case, they can end up with fines or even accidents. So, we try downloading trucking navigation apps. And unfortunately, a lot of these are older technologies. They're slow, they're laggy, they're often missing weather and traffic information, and their road information can quickly get out of date. So, we wanted to figure out how we could make this a little bit easier on the driver. How can we help them navigate their routes efficiently and do it safely so they're not bouncing between screens when we want their focus on the road? Well, we found a way to make the driver's job a little bit easier. And I'm excited to share that starting now, we are offering turn-by-turn commercial navigation directly in the Samsara driver app. Let's take a look. So here we've got the Samsara driver app and we see a new tab for navigation. going to pull it up. And we can see navigation right here in the app. And it's clean, simple, easy to use. But we can see that it's got road restrictions built in. Height restrictions, weight restrictions, axles, hazardous materials. It's all included. Now, from here, with a single click, I can pull up the route plan that we just created. And with one tap, I can be routed along my way to that first stop. It is pulling in live traffic information. It knows the characteristics of my vehicle and it knows which roads I'm allowed on, which I'm not, and it's going to help me get to my destination safely and efficiently. We can go ahead and preview this route here. And we can see the driver gets live turn-by-turn directions. It has spoken audio instructions to keep their focus on the road. And it's all available right here in the app. Now, this is great for routes that are planned and distributed through Samsara, but of course, drivers can enter any address they need to navigate to. Their app will even come preloaded with your organization's addresses and geofences, so it's incredibly easy for them to figure out where they need to go and how to get there safely. We're excited for all of your drivers to try this. Commercial turn-by-turn navigation will be available later this summer.
So these three new products, navigation, route planning and maintenance, these provide you new choices alongside the third party apps that integrate into our open platform through our open ecosystem. And we are going to continue to invest in and grow our ecosystem of partners who integrate with our platform while also building the products that we hear you asking for. So now with our maintenance optimized, our routes optimized, our drivers set on their way, we're cooking. We are operating with military-like precision. What could possibly get in the way of our perfectly laid plans? Weather. Despite what you might think if you're here in San Diego, weather is a massive challenge in operations. Weather snarls supply chains. Weather grinds roads to a halt. Weather can shut down job sites. It can damage your equipment out in the field. And most importantly, weather is a major safety hazard, with one in five accidents on the road being weather related. So, we wanted to figure out how we could use data and intelligence to help you and your teams manage through weather hazards safely and efficiently. We've built a new solution that we call weather intelligence. I'd like to show you now. Let's go back to the computer and take a look. So, if we pull up the dashboard, we can see the dashboard of an organization that operates nationwide. They've got roughly 20,000 assets in the system. And so, chances are if there is a weather event in the continental US, it is impacting them. So, here we can see a radar view. We can see their assets as well as all of the weather events from rain to snow to wind. Many of you have this up on a big screen in your operation center. Many of you have another screen next to it with a subscription to weather hazard alerts, the public alerts from the National Weather Service that can be critical heads up for your operations. So we said, how could we make this a little bit better? Well, what if instead of having two screens and multiple subscriptions, what if we could just have these weather hazard alerts directly in Samsara? So, we have done that and now we're bringing in public weather alerts from the NWS directly into the platform. So, we can see right here, for example, that we've got a red flag warning here in Colorado. There are three drivers and 55 assets in that risk zone. or we can see a heat advisory in the east in the Midwest, right? We can see which of our drivers and assets are in that risk zone when it's going to impact them. And then do we have anyone here from Texas today? Lot of Texans and a lot of weather. Down here we've got a flood watch with 67 drivers, 199 assets. Let's dive in and take a look see what's going on in here. So now here we can see the weather, we can see the assets and we can see all of the details pulled in from the NWS and its local affiliates and most importantly we can see who's impacted. So this is great being able to see all this in one place. How could we make it even better? Well, sometimes these weather hazards, they can last for 12, 24, 48 hours. We actually want to know what's going on right now. What are our drivers facing out on the ground? Well, we can see that now, too. We're pulling in dash camera images from your fleet. So now you can actually see what your drivers are seeing, what the conditions are on the ground, where they're operating. So this is pretty amazing. No more phone calls to say, 'Is it raining yet? How bad are the roads?' You've actually got that on the ground situational awareness. How could we make this even better? How could we bring it over the top? Well, this is great for seeing what your drivers see now, where they are right now. What about where they're going to be? Your fleet, your operations, they're constantly on the move. Sometimes your teams are moving hundreds of miles in a single day. The weather is moving, too. What you really want to know, it's what's happening, where your operations are going to be. So, what would be really amazing is if there was a network of millions of public traffic cameras and weather cameras. They were feeding imagery into the system and you could see it right here in the dashboard. Well, that doesn't exist. But we realized it could be possible to create that experience if we brought the Samsara community together. You see, collectively, your fleets have millions of vehicles with connected AI dash cameras. These millions of vehicles are everywhere that operations happen. And they form a network of eyes that can understand weather hazards. And this is an incredible resource to keep each other safe. So we asked ourselves, what if it was possible to tap into that network and do it in a way that preserved your privacy and your control of your data? Well, we think we found a way to do that. We call it Street Sense. Let's take a look. So now we're not just looking at images from our own fleets cameras. We're looking at images from across the network of millions of Samsara vehicles, including those that are here in this risk zone. And look at this. 20 seconds ago, 23 seconds ago, 41 seconds ago. This is near real time visibility. We've built this with privacy in mind. So, we're using AI to strip out personally identifiable information. And each of you have control over whether or not your fleet's cameras participate in the Street Sense network. But when this visibility comes together, it is an incredible tool for you to keep each other safe. So if we want to zoom in and see what's happening at the north end of this weather incident, we can see, hey, there's a flood watch. We're starting to see some water accumulation. Things are getting pretty bad. We might have some delays, some road closures, right? What about over here? Look, it's really coming down. As of a minute ago, we're seeing a lot of moisture on the road. Wet conditions. Drivers are going to have to slow down to stay safe. What about down south? Oh, we're seeing some clouds, couple drops, but it's not too bad yet. Shouldn't impact operations. This is what it means to have true situational awareness and have the visibility and context to keep your team safe. What do you think? This is pretty incredible, right? We went from a radar view to public alerts to our cameras visibility to this collective Street Sense network. Now we know what's happening everywhere. Let's bring it home for our drivers. We can compose a message for them. And the AI will actually take all of the information from the NWS feed, those pages of information, and it'll summarize it into a short message that we can send out. Next time they stop, they can see the message on their mobile app. But what would be even better is if we could not have to wait for them to stop and check the app. We'd love to actually give them a heads up in real time, especially when there's a safety hazard. Well, most of these drivers have a Samsara camera in the cab. This camera is connected and it's got a speaker. So, what if we could actually use AI to create a new message, an audio message that could be played for them instantly through their dash camera speaker? Well, we can do that, too. Let's take a look. So, I'm going to go ahead and edit this message. I'm going to shorten it up. 'Plains region starting around noon. The Beyond crowd wants you safe.' Want to personalize it. Make sure they know we're thinking about them. And now I'll enable in-cab audio. And it's going to use AI to generate a humanlike spoken message that's can play over the dash camera. Let's listen to what it produced. 'NWS has issued a flood watch for the West Texas mountain and plains regions starting around noon. The Beyond crowd wants you safe.' Pretty good. Some of you have been with Samsara for many years now and you started deploying cameras before we had AI. They would detect harsh braking events and beep. We've gone from that to collective intelligence from millions of cameras, understanding hazards before our drivers hit them and giving them lifelike warnings in the cab. Pretty amazing. Glad you're excited. Weather intelligence ships later this summer. Looking forward to all of you having it before we go into the next storm season.
So now our drivers are taken care of. We know what's going on. They're going to be safe. But what about our customers? We just planned out 75 route stops. We optimized it perfectly. And then this new weather event comes in. A lot of those stops, they're going to be late. There's nothing we can do about that. But how could we deliver a five-star experience to those customers when these delays happen? Well, what you really want to do is to be able to call them up and to be able to explain the issue to them and work through any accommodations that they need. And this is not too hard to do for one or two or a handful of customers. But what about the 75 orders that we just scheduled? What if you've got dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of orders that are impacted? How could you give that personal touch to all of your customers at scale? Well, it turns out that this is something that AI can help with as well. We have partnered with a company called Happy Robot that builds voice-based AI technology specifically for logistics and physical operations. We have invested in Happy Robot and integrated our products. And I'd like to show you now what the experience is like of using AI to connect with our customers with like lifelike voice AI. So here I'm going to roleplay the recipient of one of those orders we scheduled. I'm going to be the manager at a taco shop here in San Diego and we're going to have AI call me up and tell me about the delay for my order. So, let's go ahead and trigger that call. San Diego's finest. This is Kieran. Hey Kieran, this is Owlstar Distribution. Just wanted to give you a quick update about your delivery schedule for later today. Yeah. Really looking forward to that. What's up? So, yeah, just a heads up. We're having some really rough weather at the moment and your driver's running late. Looks like the new ETA is 5:00 PM this evening. That's tough. I've got a really big night ahead. Anything you can do to bring that in earlier? Yeah, I guess the delay isn't ideal, but we can't risk the driver safety right now. Okay. Well, I think I can make five work. But I'm going to be open at 5. The parking lot's going to be full of customers. Can you have the driver come around the back? Sure. Let me message the driver real quick here. Okay. Send. Anything else I can help you with? Yeah. Good point. I was wondering, can you send me a tracking link? All right, let me text that to you real quick. It should be in your messages in a moment. Anything else I can assist you with? Okay. Yeah, now I got the link. Is that going to update every 15 minutes or how frequently is that going to be updated? Yeah, the link updates in real time, so

You'll be able to see Eric's progress as he gets closer. Anything else you need?
First Responder 48:40 ↗
Okay, that's great. I've got to get all that stuff unloaded as soon as it arrives. Okay, so we've got the tracking link. Driver knows to come around the back. I've got one final question. Are you by any chance an AI?
Pablo Palifox 48:54 ↗
Yep, you got me. I'm 100% digital, but I'm here to help with anything you need. Anything else I can assist you with?
First Responder 49:00 ↗
All right, let's see what you can do. I've got a big night ahead. We've got a few thousand of the world's operations leaders down the street at the Samsara Beyond conference after the bash. They're going to be hungry and I want to blow them away with my tacos. Any ideas for a special taco recipe for the Beyond audience?
Pablo Palifox 49:22 ↗
How about a Beyond Bash taco? You could do something like a fusion taco with grilled shrimp, avocado, mango salsa, and a drizzle of spicy aioli. Fresh, a little spicy, and sure to impress. What do you think?
First Responder 49:34 ↗
I think it sounds pretty good. You're hired.
Pablo Palifox 49:39 ↗
Awesome. I'm glad you liked it. Anything else I can help you with?
First Responder 49:43 ↗
No, we're all set. Thank you.
Announcer 49:46 ↗
That was pretty amazing. The first time I heard this and tried it out, I was just completely blown away. So we've got to learn more about what we've just heard. Please join me in welcoming the CEO and co-founder of Happy Robot, Pablo Palifox, to tell us more about what we just experienced.
Thank you so much, Pablo. I can't help but notice that voice on the call. It sounded a lot like you. Was that you on your cell phone backstage?
Pablo Palifox 50:27 ↗
Sort of. That was actually my AI voice clone, but I think it sounds pretty similar.
Announcer 50:32 ↗
It sounds totally lifelike. And it was able to carry on a conversation, but we saw it was also able to message the driver through the Samsara app. It was able to send me a text message with a Samsara tracking link. Tell us more about what is Happy Robot and what can this technology do?
Pablo Palifox 50:50 ↗
Absolutely. At Happy Robot, we're building the AI workforce for logistics and physical operations. Essentially, our customers are using Happy Robot today to automate internal and external communications via email, SMS, phone calls like the one we just heard, using AI agents that behave and sound human.
Announcer 51:16 ↗
So, we first saw this technology and met you guys a little over a year ago. At the time it was still in development. Now it's in production. How many calls is the system making every week, every month?
Pablo Palifox 51:28 ↗
Yes, we're already automating over a million interactions like this one every single week. We're serving over a hundred of the largest logistics operators in the world, including some customers in common like DHL or Werner.
Announcer 51:47 ↗
So we just heard Happy Robot and Samsara work together to handle an ETA call, a delivery update. What are some of the other use cases that customers are using the technology for?
Pablo Palifox 51:58 ↗
So, we're deploying use cases today that touch almost every corner of the enterprises we serve. Sales, customer service, recruiting, back office. For example, with Werner—I think or I'm pretty sure they're probably here somewhere in the audience—one of the first use cases we tackled was driver onboardings, driver orientation calls. Essentially calling drivers to remind them, hey, you have an onboarding tomorrow, you're going to show up. Not only did we see or were we able to help their team get time back because the bot was consistently making these calls in parallel, we also saw an increase in driver show-up rates because the bot was consistently doing these calls at a certain time, which was super interesting. Now on the other side of the spectrum, we are helping customers get paid, payment collections calls.
