Thank you very much. There's a lot of people outside trying to get in. A lot of people outside, but I want to say a special hello to New York and a very special hello to Long Island. I'm thrilled to be back in the state I love, and I do love it. I'm so proud of it. It's going in a bad direction; we have to change it around. We will get Bruce and Marianne to change it around.
We are especially proud to be joined by the County Police Department. I've known them a long time. There was never any problems. They are winners. Thanks as well to your brothers and sisters in the New York PD. We are here to celebrate the historic progress our administration is making together with law enforcement partners. You have to let them do their job.
That includes right here on Long Island, where under the leadership of your County Executive—great person and friend of mine for a long time, a great political leader, great politician, but I don't want to say that negatively; he's a great politician and he wins all the time. He won in a big surprise like eight or nine years ago. Man, that's tough for you to win in that location. He has won in landslides ever since: Bruce.
I said when Bruce's name got up, if they give that guy a little bit of a chance and fair treatment from the fake news and everyone else, he is going to win. I mean it. Under Bruce, think of this: the county has been rated number one safest county in the United States of America. They give you a perfect score in terms of crime: 100 out of 100.
Under the Trump administration, we are working every day with leaders like Bruce and local police like we have here. We have some of the greatest police officers here in this room. Let's let them in anyway, who the hell cares. Let's let them in anyway. They put savage criminals behind bars, and you know what they are doing? They are making America safe again. They've done a fantastic job.
Our country was overrun by violent criminals. You remember a couple years ago how bad it was, right? Foreign gangs, with Sleepy Joe. With Biden and the radical left Democrats fighting to defund the police. It does not play well in this room. Is there anyone that's in favor of defunding the police in this particular room? And wide open borders with millions of people pouring in from all over the world, including prisons and jails and mental institutions, insane asylums—that's a mental institution on steroids. They come from both, including 11,888 murderers, many of whom killed more than one person. More than 50% killed more than one person, and we took them in with open arms. How stupid can we be? But we are getting them out fast.
And the biggest problem we have, the biggest impediment we have, is sanctuary cities. We ought to change the name: sanctuary for criminals. The day I took the oath of office, we have the best border now than in the history of our country. We ended the war on police and we declared a very strong war on crime. It's been really amazing. We let our outstanding new Attorney General that happens to be with us—I was surprised to see him, Todd Blanche. I know him very well.
Since the year 1900, that was before my father was born—he would not have liked me saying that because he liked to say he's quite young—think of that, 125 years ago, we broke the record. It's amazing. I'd like to thank all the people in this room and say I am thrilled to announce that the FBI released the new Uniform Crime Report, that in 2025 we achieved the single largest reduction in violent crime in American history. That's pretty amazing.
Last year there were over 3,000 murderers, and we allowed them through this stupid open borders policy—25 million people to come in. 25 million people, that's the real number to come into our country. Many of them, the people that I just said: drug dealers, prisoners from all over the world. They came in from the Congo, South America. And despite that, we have the best crime record in recorded history. Think of this: 10,000 fewer rapes. This is the first time it ever happened; every single number is the lowest number in recorded history.
According to the latest data, crime is plummeting in 2026, with robberies down 23% and murders down 23%. It's a great tribute to all of the people in this room. Together, we are showing what is possible when you finally have a president in the White House that supports our police, that lets you do your jobs, and who always backs the blue.
I have been from the beginning, long before I ran for office, I am with you and always was 100%. My administration is giving you billions of dollars to hire, equip, and train new police. And we are giving you more money than you have ever been given in history. You are buying the best equipment that you can buy, and as president, I will always protect our qualified immunity. Always very important.
I deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to restore public safety in Washington, D.C., and in D.C., Memphis, and New Orleans, we removed over 30,000 criminals from the streets in a single year. Crime is down 71% in Memphis, and 75% in New Orleans, and in D.C. crime is down 81%. D.C. is personal for me. Crime was so bad a year and a half ago; people were being murdered, three a week on average. We have few murders anymore. We have very little crime anymore. We've taken it from one of the most dangerous—can you imagine, our nation's capital, one of the most dangerous in the city—we've taken it to the safest in the country. We moved them out. We moved almost 5,000 people out of D.C.
It's a very interesting stat: 2% of the people create 91% of the crime. We can handle 2% of the people. If it was 60% of the people, we would have problems. They are repeat criminals, sometimes three or four times a day with cashless bail. They repeat, go into court, and go and create another crime. 2% create 91% of the crime; that can be handled well. We moved out 5,000 career criminals.
I have many people thanking me at the White House. These young beautiful girls at the White House, they come in—and I'm not supposed to say beautiful, but what the hell—these gorgeous, beautiful girls that want to be safe, and they say, "Mr. President, thank you, because a year and a half ago I was afraid to open the door of my apartment, and now I walk to the White House every morning and I have absolutely no fear. Thank you, sir." Now I get it all the time: men, women, older men, younger men, older women, and younger women. They say thank you. Two years ago, we were in a hellhole. We represent the whole universe because there's nothing like the United States. Look at what we've done.
For other cities like New York, Chicago, and L.A., we will stop their crime. We come in with the right people, we come in with the power to move people out of the country if they are here illegally. A lot of them were criminals let through the open border. You saw it through Spain; they allowed 65,000 people in. Now remember 25 million people—we were worse. It was like that every single day in our country, and went on for months and months. We had a border czar, and she never went to the border or called Border Patrol.
Federal law enforcement has arrested criminals, and we increased federal criminal prosecutions by over 50%. The Trump administration and FBI has doubled its arrests for violent crime. The violent criminals are being arrested. Crime numbers, even in places that say they don't have good leadership—Chicago has bad leadership, but we have the numbers down because of what the federal government is doing. We get no credit because they like to take all the credit. Everyone knows we've done an amazing job. The U.S. Attorney and FBI, all the people—Kash and Todd—have been unbelievable. And as of this week, we've captured 9 of 10 fugitives on the FBI's Most Wanted list, and that's a virtual record. We have a list of 10 not-nice people. These are not nice people.
He has so much cash he doesn't know what to do with it, and he wants to be safe. He's a real estate man, a very good one, and he used to be my enemy, but now he's very nice to me. He used to be my competitor, but he is a good man. He is a brilliant real estate person.
Shortly after taking office, I signed a historic executive order directing that anyone convicted of killing a police officer should face the death penalty. Last year—think of this—deaths of law enforcement officers in the line of duty fell to an 80-year low. It's still too many, but an 80-year low.
Despite our progress to restore safety to every community, the radical left, Marxist, communist—these aren't socialists; socialists are no good, but remember I said at the State of the Union speech that we will not be a socialist country. I was right! They want to make us a communist country. They skipped socialist. But they continue their war on police and destruction of the rule of law. The communists want to turn America into a Third World country and hellhole of crime. I said it a week ago for the first time: the first thing you see, before you even see the crime, is the streets become filthy dirty. They are disgusting. They smell, they rot, but everything becomes dirty. And then you see the crime, and you see the other things, and then the death comes. Truly a hellhole, and we are not going to let that happen to New York. That's why we have to get Bruce into office.
The radical left Governor Kathy has been very bad on crime, a nightmare for crime. No-cash bail law—I've been here a long time, I love this place, but it gets harder to love. Remember, it started with no-cash bail. You kill someone, then you go out and kill two or three people a day. It's the craziest thing I ever heard. It's like men playing in women's sports; it's so crazy you can't believe it. It's like transgender of your children. And all these people believe in all of this, but they came out with the one with the no-cash bail. You kill somebody, you rob a store, you go right back out on the street. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. I don't know, from a political standpoint I guess it's good because, Bruce, how can you lose to that? You will be ashamed if you lose to that; you will be ashamed for the rest of your life.
Think of that: open borders, let's have open borders, have the entire world pour into our country—24 million people in four years. People that killed our great police officers, one in particular on Long Island. I went to the funeral and I met the whole group, and they gave the most beautiful sermon, but they kill. These are absolute killers, and you're not going to change them. You have to get them the hell out or put them away, and if you don't do that, you are wasting a lot of time. The only thing from a political standpoint is that it's so easy to run against because it's just common sense. I guess I'm a conservative guy, but I'm a common sense guy more than a conservative guy. Bruce is a common sense guy. All of the congresspeople that are here—we have all of our congresspeople here. If you said, "Would you rather have Bruce Blakeman or all your congresspeople?" I think I will have to give you that one. They are very happy.
She signed a law weakening parole enforcement for convicted felons and spent millions of dollars providing taxpayer-funded lawyers to illegal aliens. If you were an illegal alien, you got lawyers that were very good, very effective. She is in favor of the sanctuary cities; she thinks sanctuary cities are wonderful, which are killing our country. She signed dangerous new laws.
People that are not supposed to be here—and the reason they left their country is a lot of bad reasons. I know a lot of the leaders of these countries. They are street-smart, and they don't want these people, so they sent them into the United States of America through the open border. And people like Kathy that want to keep them in New York—we don't want to keep them in New York. We don't want to take a chance. You know what the chance is, maybe 2%? But the radical left stand with the gang members, child predators, violent felons. We stand with the great people of law enforcement.
They were against securing the border and massive tax cuts. They were against no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security for seniors. They fought it like hell, is that right? They fought like crazy. We didn't get one vote. We have no tax on tips, no tax on overtime—and you cops get a lot of overtime. I made you a lot of money. But you deserve it. And no tax on Social Security for the seniors. Is anyone happy about that? Seniors, are you happy about that? If you had your choice of only having one, like the one you like best: no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security for our seniors, no tax on overtime? I knew the one that they would like the best.
She wants to raise your taxes. She and all these people are against these things, and if they get in, they will take them all away. They're all going away. That could happen, actually. If we keep making money like we are making, we are the hottest nation in the world. We are building more plants and factories than any country anywhere in the world in history. The jobs are going to be fantastic. In a couple of years, two and a half years, someone is going to be elected, and will you please remember one thing? Trump is the one that did it. These factories are all going to be opening up. They will all open up. They are going to be opening up and say how brilliant they were.
Think of it: we have $19.2 trillion being invested in the country. We are making a fortune with tariffs. They have no idea. Basically, if you make your product here, you don't pay tariffs. If you make your product in another country, I want you to pay 50%. We don't want your product if you make it there. So they are all moving in and building—$19.2 trillion so far, because that's actually 13, 14 months. Think of the next governor and the next president. Your next governor is going to say, "What a great job." You know how many factories and places are being built in all of the states? Your next president is going to say, "What a great job I did." He will be sitting around watching television. Unless you vote Republican, of course. But, "No, darling, look at the great job I did. I don't know what's happening, but this country is good." We have the hottest country anywhere in the world. That's more invested than ever in history in any country.
And another little stat—I love these guys, I hate reading these boring speeches because isn't it nice to have a president that doesn't have to read a teleprompter? Teleprompters are easy. You get a little bored with teleprompters. Here's a stat they never write down, but I think it's one of the most—at this moment right now, there are more people working in the United States of America than ever before. Think of that stat.
One other thing I have to say: they keep talking about affordability. I'm in the office one day, and look at all that press back there—wow, fake news. They keep talking about affordability. When I got in, you remember the first news conference, it was one day in, they started screaming, "What about eggs? What's the problem with eggs? They are up five times higher than they were a year ago." I've been here one day, and they started screaming affordability. You know, I made the statement that they always misread and everything else, that I said the Democrats saying that is a hoax because they're the ones that caused the affordability issue. We are bringing the prices way down. Look at what's happening.
After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated, pretty soon I will be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States. We have the blockade. No ships get through unless we want them to. How about Venezuela? Venezuela was a one-day war, and now we work great with them. We've taken in millions and millions of barrels of oil, but we are doing good in every way. I built the military, and I used it a little bit more than I wanted to because we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.
Most things are down. And before I started that, I had to make a journey and I said to my guys—Howard, Scott, Marco, what a great group we have—but fellas, we just had the best month anyone has ever had as president. The numbers had just come out. I got back and I was in Iowa helping some people, and I was in office, and we are looking at the pump and it's $1.95 a gallon. And another one was $1.85. And the following day, I said we have to make a little journey to the Middle East because we have to put out a potential disaster. We cannot let Iran keep going. If we didn't hit them with the B-2 bombers, if we didn't hit them, you would've had a nuclear weapon, and it would've been a very sad day for this country and the entire world. I said we will have to put out the fire in the Middle East, and we've done that. They will never have a nuclear weapon.
I just say this: for you to pay a tiny little bit more for your gasoline, you are doing it so a very evil country—a country that's really the number one state sponsor of terror in the world—I will never apologize. I did the right thing. I had it down below $2 in many states, but in California you can't include because they keep taxing. You just have to remember that what we are doing is a great service for the world, not only for ourselves but the world, and we are really doing a great job. Our military is unbelievable. The blockade is unstoppable. The blockade is a wall of steel.
The policies of the Democrat colleagues like crooked Attorney General Letitia James—she's the most dishonest, a real slob. You know they had her; she got off on a technicality. She got off on a technicality. Let's see what happens. Remember when she was campaigning and said, "We will stop Donald Trump"? She's not supposed to say that. She didn't know anything about me, but she campaigned that we will stop Donald Trump. Am I here as president? Yeah. By the way, Letitia James is a disgrace to law and order, law enforcement; she is a disgrace. She is a dishonest, crooked person. I used to say that about James Comey, and I was right.
You have a person running who I just met today for the first time and I've endorsed her running for Attorney General. Where the hell are you? I'm hearing you have a hell of a shot. Her resume is unbelievable.
The reason that all convenience stores are locked up—you used to go into a drugstore and you buy something, a toothbrush, you buy some toothpaste, now you have to go open up glass. I don't know how they can make money. I don't care how much they make you. I have a store on Wall Street and they said, "Sir, we're not going to make it." I go into the store—and this is before I left—into the drugstore, a beautiful store right across from the New York Stock Exchange. Everything is beautiful; there's only one problem: every shelf has glass on it and has a lock and key. You want a toothbrush, or you want a little toothpaste, or Dove soap to keep your skin very nice, or if you want a little bit of the good stuff that can puff up your hair a little bit more, and you have to call the clerk: "Will you please help me?" They open up the glass door and give you a bottle of shampoo. Give me a break! And that's because nothing happens to these criminals. It's not like that in Republican states, I can tell you that.
Three weeks ago, a demented criminal with 14 prior arrests threw an elderly woman onto the subway tracks. Almost died, barely lived. Two weeks ago, a 12-year-old boy named Jacob was tragically shot and killed by a stray bullet by a repeat offender having a gun battle. Jacob's parents are incredible people, and I think I heard that they might be with us today. Are you with us? May I introduce you? Please.
Incredible, horrible story. What a horrible thing. We are going after them. These are bad, sick people.
Also with us is former New York PD officer Ethan Corey. He arrested someone for endangering a child, only to watch that migrant criminal be released under the sanctuary laws that Kathy so fervently supports. Imagine the anguish that Ethan felt after he found out that they released him into the world. I want to thank Ethan and accept our congratulations and love. Thank you. He was devastated. We have been together twice. He was devastated because he had the guy, and it was done, and they released him. They released him, and they went on the following couple of days later and killed.
Thanks to our Republican majority, it was my honor to sign the act to ensure that criminals are swiftly deported. The family was devastated. I want to thank Bruce for working closely with federal law enforcement to remove more than 2,000 migrant criminals from the county. Removed 2,000 absolute total criminals—that's why your records are so good. That's why you are number one in the country.
It's time for the people of New York to remind your politicians their job is not to protect the criminals. Their job is to protect the good, hardworking people of New York. That's why right here in this county, Bruce hired over 700 new police and correctional officers to keep New York safe. I don't know, should we do this? Come on up, Bruce.
