I've been fortunate to be in industries where transformation, change, and continuous learning were a high priority. Part of the vibrancy of North Carolina is delivering and driving change. I think you have the ingredients for change, transformation, addressing climate change resiliency, and Duke is delighted to be a part of that. So I believe North Carolina is very strongly positioned for the clean energy transition. I think about not only the diversity of assets we operate today, being one of the largest nuclear operators, which puts the state in a position where 50% of the power today is carbon free. The fact that the state is strongly recognized for solar capacity, the ability to add storage, to add offshore wind potentially over time, and we would also be a good candidate for hydrogen. So I would look at the potential that the state holds for the clean energy transition and I think it's extraordinary. The academic institutions in North Carolina are terrific in partnering with businesses. This combination of education working with business leaders to create the workforce of the future is where the power lies and what makes North Carolina stronger. I think about the partnership we have with community colleges. As you think about strengthening the grid, not only to accommodate renewables but for resiliency, hurricane response, and other things, having that partnership is a great way for us to work together: state, education, and business. North Carolina is a glorious place to live and work, a state that has everything anyone could want as they think about not only creating a life for their family but also a life for their career and for their business.
