About Bob Nardelli
Bob Nardelli, founder of XLR-8 and former CEO of Home Depot and Chrysler, has been a frequent commentator on economic and political issues. In April 2025, he praised the Trump administration's approach, stating he believes it is "reshaping the global economy" and having a "good impact on it initially." He described the administration's style as requiring "100 one-day plans" instead of a 100-day plan, emphasizing flexibility and agility. Nardelli also criticized the prior administration, attributing increases in operating costs to "40% wage increases" and policies he referred to as an "energy surrender."
In earlier appearances, Nardelli compared the economic records of President Biden and former President Trump, saying "Biden's used to signing the back of a check and President Trump's used to signing the front of the check." He characterized Trump's proposed corporate tax plan as "creative" and "encouraging localization," and argued that tariffs, when used as a practice rather than a policy, were effective in bringing China to the negotiating table. Nardelli also stated that the Teamsters' decision not to endorse a Democratic candidate was a "big message" for the party, reflecting concerns about families' economic well-being.

Well, I listened again very closely to what Jamie said. You know, sometimes the market's wrong, sometimes the market's right. Now he said that while the market was way down, it'd be interesting to see if he changes that perspective a little bit after yesterday's rebound, for sure. But Maria, you make an excellent point again that we have to be very flexible here, and we have to be ready to adapt. I mean, this president is like no other president. We are seeing increases in the overall operating cost. That's because this prior administration saddled us with 40% wage increases, increases in policies. You know, this whole energy surrender that we did in our country, now coming back lower energy costs which will be tremendously helpful. So we do have to, you know, we have to doge our businesses. Yeah, that's not because of what's happening today, that's just the carryover of what we're having. We'll see the CPI go up a little bit, right? The PPI, confidence is still below the mean. But I think, you know, the certainty of uncertainty is something we have to live with and we have to get used to, adapt to it, Maria. That's just the way it's going to be under this president and this administration. But thank God we have him in that Oval Office.
