About Jim Breyer

Jim Breyer, founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, has been active in discussions about artificial intelligence, healthcare, and technology investing. In a July 2025 interview, he stated that AI is "fundamental to almost everything that we'll see and do" and described having made about 15 investments in AI and health, spanning diagnosis, preventive care, and drug discovery. He said his approach involves identifying Nobel laureates or potential Nobel laureates in medicine and pairing them with AI talent from companies like Google, Meta, and Microsoft. Breyer also commented on the Stargate Project, a $500 billion AI infrastructure initiative, calling it "too big, too expensive" and giving it a 9.5 out of 10 on a difficulty scale, while noting that capital expenditure projects of that scale "tend to not work." Breyer has also discussed his investment in Circle, the stablecoin company, which went public in 2025. He said he invested in 2013 after meeting with co-founders Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville, describing his cost basis as $0.27 per share. He noted that regulatory challenges were always a risk but that Allaire had "a sense of wanting to be regulated in the right way." Regarding Meta, Breyer said in early 2025 that he sees a "revitalized Mark Zuckerberg" and that the company is "as well positioned in AI as anyone out there." He has also expressed optimism about Nvidia and AMD, stating that Nvidia is "unstoppable" over a three-year timeframe and that he would add AMD to the list of "Magnificent Seven" stocks.

I maybe the new pope wants to get in on AI. You know, Jim, I have to ask you about Elon Musk because I know you have been a fan, a friend, an investor. What is going on here between Elon Musk and President Trump and what's at stake?
J
Jim Breyer0:17
I don't know any of the real details. What I would say again, Elon, a genius. I'm an investor in several of the Elon companies. He hires extraordinarily well, and we don't often hear enough about people like Omead Afshar and others who are on his senior team in terms of what's going on at the president level. And with Elon, I just can't tell.
I

Does it make you nervous as an investor in the companies? They have a lot to lose here.
J
Jim Breyer0:48
I'm always nervous.
I

Nothing beyond.
J
Jim Breyer0:51
Nothing beyond typical day to day.

What about overall thoughts about the EV market? Since we could go so many directions on SpaceX and autonomous, but what's at stake next week in Austin, do you think for the company?
J
Jim Breyer1:05
I think there's a great deal at stake. But I'm also very optimistic around the products that they're delivering, usually late. That's okay.
I

Right. What we talk about second strike advantage all the time. You got it. Yeah.

But I haven't seen the specific details of the announcement. I was at the Gigafactory opening. I was at the robot event in Los Angeles. Again, these are breathtakingly good technologists at Tesla and SpaceX.
