Pope Leo XIV celebrated a votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fountain of Salvation, in the Place de la Concorde in Paris on September 26, 2026. In his homily, delivered in French, he reflected on the Gospel of John 7, saying that Jesus is the source of living water that quenches humanity's deepest thirst for meaning, truth, and communion with God. He warned that material goods and distractions cannot fill the inner emptiness. He urged the faithful to drink from the pierced heart of Jesus and become sources of life for others, citing figures like Blandina, Pothinus, Irenaeus, Martin, Francis de Sales, Vincent de Paul, Frederick Ozanam, and Jean Jugan who drank from this water. Praise be Jesus Christ, and welcome to Vatican Radio's livestreamed broadcast of Holy Mass celebrated by Pope Leo XIV in the Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris. I'm Christopher Wells. I'll be providing the English language commentary for today's liturgy.
Last night, Pope Leo celebrated vespers with clergy, religious and seminarians in Notre Dame Cathedral, again here in Paris.
Today's Mass is the second public liturgy that the Pope is celebrating during this apostolic journey to France.
The Place de la Concorde in Paris, in downtown Paris, is the largest public square in the French capital.
And we're told that some 600,000 people are here lining the streets of Paris to take part in the Holy Mass.
You can see on the video feed a sea of yellow and white papal flags and quite a few French flags as well.
Naturally, the Holy Father has arrived in the venue, if you will, for the celebration of Mass and is currently vesting for the liturgy.
And as we begin our broadcast, I would like to welcome everyone joining us around the world through the various Vatican media channels: the Vatican Audio or Radio app, the Vatican News web portal, the Vatican News YouTube channel, or view one of our partner stations including EWTN TV, Catholic Faith Network in America, Salt and Light TV, Shalom World TV, Madaran TV, Catholic TV, and Luminous Radio India.
A very warm welcome to all of you.
The Holy Father this afternoon will be celebrating a votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fountain of Salvation.
And as the opening hymn begins, the procession will make its way to the sanctuary for the beginning of Mass.
All the, all the great to be, every single, heat, heat.

Brothers and sisters, the Lord gathers us for the celebration of the Eucharist, source and summit of our life, with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fountain of Salvation.
Let us turn our gaze toward God who loves our magnificent humanity, to welcome with a trusting heart the mercy offered to us.
Let us humbly recognize that we have sinned.
Everyone who has eternal. Amen.
