We are about to find out.
Oh my gosh.
Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has chosen the name of Leo XIV.
We are just hearing the first words as he continues to provide a summary as we listen to his words.
It comes from the seven. God loves all of us, without any limits and condition. And...
We still have the sound in our ears, though weak voice of Pope Francis, who is blessing room here. We have that fresh in our minds.
On the morning, on the day of Easter Sunday... allow me to continue... God loves everyone. Evil will not prevail. We are all in the hands of God.
So without fear, united, hand-in-hand, with God and among ourselves, we go forward. We have the disciples of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs his light.
Humanity needs him. But as the bridge between God and his love... may we all build bridges, dialogue, encounter... so that we can all be -- people all in peace. Thank you, Pope Francis.
I would like to also thank my brother cardinals who chose me to be the successor and to walk along with you, searching altogether true peace and justice. And working together, men and women, faithful to Christ to proclaim the gospel, to be missionaries.
I am a son of St. Augustine, Augustinian. With you, I am a Christian. So may we all walk together towards the place that God has prepared for us. To the Church, special greeting.
Of to look how we gather the Church that builds bridges. That is always open to receive everyone. Just like in this square, to receive everyone, everyone. Charity, dialogue, love.
And now a greeting in Spanish.
But to the people of my diocese... we have such faithful people accompanying the bishop. Such faithful people helping the bishop.
All of you, the people of Rome, of Italy... we need to be Church that shows charity always. And especially as charitable to those who are suffering.
Today... today is the day of praying. Our Blessed Mother Mary who is close to us, she always wants to intercede for us through her love.
So let us pray together for this new mission. For all of the Church, for peace in the world. That she will help give us special grace, our Mother.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. You are blessed and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
