In April 2022, Leon Wang, Executive Vice President for the International Region at AstraZeneca, stated that global cooperation is the only feasible solution to a global health crisis. He said that the global community can help each other through technology transfer of vaccines, antiviral drug manufacturing, and treatment antibody supply. Wang argued that technology should not create a barrier and that equal access to medication, vaccines, and treatment should be provided to both developed countries and emerging markets. Wang also called for collaboration on supply capacity, stating that countries should not have border barriers or regulatory approval barriers and that capacity should be shared among countries. He noted the importance of government and healthcare professional support for minority patients, including oncology, hematology, and renal dialysis patients, and said that such support would generate a long-term impact.
