PTC'DC | The Next Wave of AI: Inference, Agents and Distributed Infrastructure | Alex Bouzari, DDN
📅 Oct 23, 2026PTC8 MIN6 VIEWS19 SEGMENTS · 2 SPEAKERS
The first wave of AI infrastructure was about building capacity. Alex Bouzari, CEO and Co-Founder of DDN, believes the next will be about putting that infrastructure to work at scale.
Speaking with JSA TV at PTC'DC, Alex discusses the growing role of inference and agentic workloads, why flexibility and software efficiency will become increasingly important in AI data centers, and how these workloads could drive demand for thousands of smaller, distributed facilities alongside large-scale campuses.

0:29So where do you see the greatest opportunity, and then what challenges are going to come along?
3:43... so quickly as well, how do you think digital infrastructure leaders can make smart long-term decisions when we're planning ahead, you know, for capacity, for power, connectivity, without overbuilding or falling behind their competitors?
6:18What major developments do you think we're going to see in the industry?
7:43I'm curious, what's one idea, technology, or trend that you think isn't getting enough recognition right now?
Welcome to JSA TV, where we're covering the latest stories, trends, and innovations with leaders in digital infrastructure. My name is Emily Sharer for JSA. I'm joined right now by Alex Bouzari. He is the CEO and founder of DDN. Alex, thanks so much for taking time to meet with us today.
Absolutely. So we're going to start with an easy question. AI is influencing nearly every aspect of digital infrastructure right now. So where do you see the greatest opportunity, and then what challenges are going to come along?
Sure. I mean, the opportunities are everywhere, right? So AI is transforming the world's economy. It's adding value. It's adding creativity in all kinds of industries that thrive on that. It's helping enterprises develop better products, better technologies, better services, so that their customers can benefit from it. So it's impacting the top line and the bottom line of enterprises, and it's extremely valuable. So the opportunity is in all aspects of all industries, from financial services to life sciences, manufacturing, healthcare, government, security, safety — it has an impact. And so I think AI traverses all industries, all use cases, and the opportunity is everywhere. Just pick one, focus on one, and deliver value. It's as simple as that.
Yeah. Yeah. Do you think the adoption rates, though, could still go up? I mean, what are the adoption rates going to look like in the coming years across industries? Do you think we have a long way?
Sure. It will be massive. So the first phase of this deployment of AI in terms of use and value creation was in laying out the foundation: building data centers, taking land, bringing power, putting modular data centers or stick-built data centers, rolling in the racks of equipment, putting models on those. That was the first wave. The second wave is the industrialization of this infrastructure that is being built. Think of it as we built the highways. Now we're putting cars and trucks on these highways, and these cars and trucks are delivering goods and services throughout the US, throughout the world. So I think it is the industrialization that is taking place right now. That industrialization is in very early stages. There will be tens of trillions of dollars of value creation over the next decade that will come out of AI. So very much in the early stages. The other element which will result in massive growth and massive opportunity is inference and agents. We are just starting to see agents make their way into delivering value. I mean, you live with it, I live with it, we all live with it — agents are bringing value to us in our daily lives. They're bringing value to enterprises, organizations. It's just the very, very beginning of that. We will see orders of magnitude amplification through agents in AI. So very much the early phases of this. This is a story which will get deployed. You know, I always say this is the golden age for humanity, that this is really an expansion, an acceleration the likes of which humanity has never seen, and we are in the first chapter of that book.
Excellent. Well, with AI demand changing so quickly as well, how do you think digital infrastructure leaders can make smart long-term decisions when we're planning ahead, you know, for capacity, for power, connectivity, without overbuilding or falling behind their competitors?
