Movado Group is one of the world's leading watchmakers. We design, manufacture, and distribute watches across our portfolio, which is nine brands. We're a global company with 50% of our business outside of the United States, publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange. We have a very diversified business model. We are a wholesaler, we have a retail business, and we also sell direct to consumer.
I am the global CFO at Movado Group, and in addition to having the traditional CFO responsibilities, I also get my hands into many of the other facets of the business. We're a global company and quite complex, but we run like a small business, and I'm actually able to really get hands-on into many of the initiatives that the company's undertaking.
Well, my time at Deloitte was phenomenal. I had a lot of exposure to businesses and multiple industries, industries that were regulated, I had companies that were at the start of their life cycle, I had companies that were growing very rapidly. And all these experiences are what I can really draw upon now in my current professional career and call upon them. The other thing that I really would give thanks to Deloitte for was developing my leadership skills. I'm able, because of them, to lead large groups of people and also multiple projects at a time.
When I was looking to join a firm right out of school, Deloitte had everything I wanted. They obviously had a great client base, lots of diverse industries, and they really wanted to invest in their people and give them all the training and development needed, which is what I was looking for at the time.
My colleagues that I met at Deloitte are actually now my advisors, if you will, my mentors. And I still look to and call upon them many, many times to help me throughout my professional and personal life. There are times when I will call someone and know that they're going to pick up the phone, or I email someone and know I'm going to get a response. We've been very supportive of each other, which is great. But I think the other thing that's interesting is that I've actually built relationships with people from Deloitte that I didn't work with at the time, but the fact that we both have that in our background, we have so many things in common and can draw upon that relationship and know that we're there for each other as well.
I think joining Deloitte is really something that you would never have any regrets for. I think it's something that, whether you're at the beginning of your career or maybe an experienced hire, it's something that when you add it to your resume, it's going to help no matter what. And I think one of the biggest things is really the investment of time that they take in you. I also think that once you join the firm, to fully engage yourself in everything that Deloitte has to offer, to be part of the programs that they offer, to go through the leadership training, to look at experience maybe outside of what you came in for, whether it's international or in another field, I think only Deloitte can really offer you that.
