About Vivek Garg

Vivek Garg, who serves as Chief Accounting Officer, Vice President & Controller at Hf Sinclair, has been publishing short-form videos in Hindi on personal finance topics since at least December 2024. In these videos, Garg has discussed the importance of financial literacy, stating that many people do not understand its importance and that without it, people often face difficulties managing expenses and savings. He has also explained the concept of equity, describing it as the residual interest in a company's assets after deducting liabilities and noting that owning a share means owning a part of that company. In more recent videos, Garg has addressed wealth-building strategies for 2025, advocating for avoiding debt, implementing a budget, starting a side hustle, and diversifying investments. He has also discussed creating an emergency fund, describing the 6x rule as a useful guideline while noting that individuals should tailor their savings based on personal circumstances and income stability. Garg has suggested keeping emergency funds in a savings account, liquid mutual funds, or using a bank's auto-sweep facility.

I think there are three reasons that I have understood. The first reason is that in India, I have felt that the school education system is a rat race. It's just a herd mentality that is telling us all that we have to run in a race and just keep going, keep running, keep running, crossing milestones one by one. No one is properly teaching us how to move forward in life, or what financial topics are, or how to grow a business. There are many such things that we do not get to learn. The second reason, which in my opinion holds great importance at this time, is that people from tier two and tier three cities in India are migrating. Now all these people are migrating to tier one cities. What is happening because of this is that the ecosystem in the smaller cities is not developing. Because of this, businesses there are not prospering much. Yes, some startup ecosystem is developing, but is that enough? You tell me by commenting.
