My name is Julie Lodge-Jarrett and I'm the Chief People and Purpose Officer at Dick's Sporting Goods. Title IX was signed into law in 1972, just a few years before I was born. What it did for me and for women for generations to come cannot be measured. It was truly life-changing. As a college graduate, an athlete, a mother, and a business leader, it's clear to me that having Title IX led me down a path that might have looked very different without it. I had the privilege of going to the college that I wanted, of playing the sports that I wanted, to work and lead in the automotive, sporting goods, and retail industries. And as a mother of a young woman about to start her own college and career journey, I'm confident that because of Title IX, she will have the resources she needs to achieve her dreams. For all of these reasons, I'm grateful for Title IX. It's why I honor the past, because history matters.
