My name is Tara Carraro, and I am the Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for United States Steel Corporation. There were a lot of things that drew me to U.S. Steel. First and foremost, it was the opportunity to help reposition this 120-year-old iconic brand and help develop a communication strategy to drive U.S. Steel towards its future. Second, I really love the fact that U.S. Steel has a values-based culture that's anchored in the S.T.E.E.L. Principles. And the third thing that drew me to U.S. Steel were the people. Every single person I spoke to said the same thing. It's a really special place with really special people. And in the 10 months that I've been here, that's been my experience. In my previous role, I was the Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Nestle Waters North America. So I spent a great deal of time working on programs and telling stories about the importance that water plays in a healthy lifestyle. What I'm enjoying most about U.S. Steel is the opportunity to use communications as a strategic growth driver for the business.
When I'm not working, I absolutely love to travel. My family and I have a long list of places around the world that we've been, both in the United States and abroad, and we have a very long list of places that we'd still like to go. And this summer, Spain is on the agenda. I'd have to say that my personal superpower is my work ethic. Growing up, my parents really instilled in me this notion of nothing will be handed to you. You must work for a living, and you must work for what you have. And so I take the outlook that there's really no job that's too small. I like to roll up my sleeves and dig in and just get the job done.
