About Robert Mcca
In a September 2024 interview, McCabe discussed Pinnacle Financial Partners' philanthropic approach, stating that the firm has given to nonprofits "even since day one when we weren't making money." He said the company prioritizes "time, talent, and treasure" and supports roughly 250 to 275 organizations across arts, education, health and human services, economic development, and diversity and inclusion programs. McCabe noted that the firm does not have a foundation and that donations come from earnings, with decisions based on associate and client engagement and the sustainability of the recipient organizations.
McCabe previously served as a judge for the Nashville Business Journal's 2016 Small Business Awards. He said the evaluation process considered growth potential, marketing strategy, business model appropriateness, results over time, and how companies dealt with adversity, adding that the difference between winners and non-winners was "very slight and small."

So could you speak briefly on Pinnacle's philanthropic initiatives, Pinnacle's philanthropic goals across Nashville?
R
Robert Mcca0:19
Yes, I can. Even since day one, when we weren't making money, we were giving money to nonprofits. We felt that our priorities were our associates, our clients, and the community. So we emphasized time, talent, and treasure. Most of these organizations need financial support, so we support arts, education, health and human services, economic development, and diversity and inclusion programs with no preset allocations. We sort of make these decisions based on the engagement of our associates, involvement, who our clients are, who are worthy causes, who has sustainable business models, and we try to do it in a very broad way. So we probably support 250 to 275 organizations along those five dimensions and always have. We don't have a foundation, so it comes out of earnings. We don't have any preset numbers. We don't have anything other than what's best for the community and that supports what we're trying to get done as a company.

I can't tell you on behalf of Phoenix Club how much we appreciate your support and Pinnacle's support over the years. Y'all have been fantastic. We always get our support. It's not hard. We don't have a committee. We just know who we're dealing with, so it's our pleasure.
