About Robert Mcca
In a September 2024 interview, McCabe discussed Pinnacle Financial Partners' philanthropic approach, stating that the firm has given to nonprofits "even since day one when we weren't making money." He said the company prioritizes "time, talent, and treasure" and supports roughly 250 to 275 organizations across arts, education, health and human services, economic development, and diversity and inclusion programs. McCabe noted that the firm does not have a foundation and that donations come from earnings, with decisions based on associate and client engagement and the sustainability of the recipient organizations.
McCabe previously served as a judge for the Nashville Business Journal's 2016 Small Business Awards. He said the evaluation process considered growth potential, marketing strategy, business model appropriateness, results over time, and how companies dealt with adversity, adding that the difference between winners and non-winners was "very slight and small."

I really enjoyed being a judge for Small Business of the Year. It's been a unique experience for me. We looked at any number of companies in three separate areas, and the difference between the winners and those that didn't win is very slight and small. Not being familiar with many of these companies personally, we used a combination of objective and subjective criteria to get to the end result. We looked at growth, the potential for growth, the marketing strategy, the company, the appropriateness of the model, the accomplishments, the results over a period of time, dealing with adversity—all companies deal with adversity is a very important part of our evaluation—and then just our overall impression. So congratulations to the winners, and also congratulations to all the contestant companies that did not quite get to first place.
