About Brad Street

Brad Street, President of the Mountain West Division at Albertsons Cos, began his career with the company in 1983 as a grocery bagger. In a 2017 interview, Street described himself as not having the best work-life balance or eating habits. He stated that after experiencing a swollen ankle and difficulty walking, he visited a Saint Alphonsus physician who diagnosed him with plantar fasciitis. Street said the doctor advised him on appropriate footwear, stretches, and exercises, and recommended weight loss. Street reported losing about 50 pounds over the following year, later maintaining a loss of approximately 40 pounds. In the same interview, Street discussed changes in consumer eating habits, stating that Albertsons is "working hard to try to keep up with that" by focusing on natural, organic, and healthy options. He described Albertsons as representing "an opportunity" to take care of customers, employees, and communities. In 2019, Street was involved in the grand reopening of a remodeled Albertsons store in Boise, which featured updated produce, deli, and bakery departments and expanded beer and wine selections. The store made a $1,000 donation to Pierce Park Elementary School during the event.

I'm fortunate enough to start my career with Albertsons, started bagging groceries back in 1983, almost 34 years ago. One of those things where the store was close to where I live, so I'd go every single day and say, 'Do you have a job? Do you have a job?' Finally the store director said, 'Just go start bagging.' And I will tell you, I'm probably not the best at work-life balance. I'm sure if you ask my wife or my daughter, they would tell you that dad's probably not the greatest at that. And I probably didn't have the best eating habits. You know, I found myself one day not being able to walk. My ankle was swollen, I couldn't walk. And you know, I'm not the type of person that takes time to go to a doctor. So thank goodness that St. Al's was over right where we live, over in Boise. They actually said, 'We're going to have to come back and see one of our sports medicine doctors.' So I came back in, he sat down with me and said, 'No, you have plantar fasciitis.' And he really kind of walked through, 'Hey, you got to get the type of shoes that I should be wearing, the type of stretches and exercises that I should be doing, and the fact that hey, you probably, if you want to help a lot, you need to lose some weight.' And over last year, I've been working hard on that. So last year I dropped about 50 pounds, and since the low point I've gained about ten of that back, so it's about 40 overall, and I've been able to maintain that pretty good over the last year. So there's really been a huge change in people's eating habits and patterns, and we're really working hard to try to keep up with that. We call it 'natural, organic, special, we need healthy in essence,' right? And so I just eat last week smarter. You know, Albertsons to me, it means an opportunity. I mean, it's an opportunity for us to take care of customers and employees and all the communities that we work, operate, and live in. And to me, it means future. So I never... I work here as long as 11.
