Hello, I'm Tony Thompson. I'm a candidate for Boyle County judge-executive, and I'm asking for your vote. I want to tell you a little bit about my business experience. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I know the struggles it takes to start with nothing and to try to rise above that. Right out of high school, I took a job as a truck driver for a local firm. I worked hard, showed up when I was supposed to, went above and beyond the call of duty anytime they asked me. It didn't take long before they asked me if I'd be willing to take a management position with them, and I did. I was excited. Once in that management position, quite frankly, I realized I was in over my head. I needed more education, so I began to take night classes at the local college, and I obtained my business administration degree and my accounting degree. With that knowledge behind me and the life experiences I had already gained by working for the firm, I was able to take on more responsibility, and they were happy to give it to me. So not only did I manage one location, they asked me if I would take on more locations, so I began to manage more and more of the locations they had. Then they asked me if I would be willing to travel throughout the United States to help other business leaders so that they could operate their locations more efficiently, more profitably, and probably most importantly, more safely. After 22 years of working with that firm, having great success, I left because I thought it was time to open my own. I opened a propane express right here in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Within seven years, we had grown that location to be the largest regional distributor of cylinders. I'm pretty proud of that. Another company had seen this, liked what they saw, and offered to buy me out. So now I work for a company that travels—I travel into three separate states: Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio—doing with large business owners, small business owners, offering them business solutions and equipment and advice on ways to operate their business more efficiently, more profitably, and safely. I believe this is the type of experience that Boyle County judge-executive ought to have. I've dealt with large businesses, I've dealt with small business owners. I know what it takes to start a new business from the ground up, and I know the frustrations and the hardships that they face. I also know about the regulations and red tape that often stand in the way. I want to work to remove those obstacles so that you, as well as I, can achieve the American dream. I'm asking for your vote on November the fourth. I will work as hard for you as I've worked for me and my family. Thank you for your time, and thank you for your support.
