In a 2015 appearance promoting the Master of Science in Health Communication program at Boston University, Steve Quigley described the program as "really a unique program" that brings together faculty from across the university and professional fields in an online format he called "really remarkably effective." He stated that the program "exists at the intersection of communication and health" and is designed for individuals who are or want to be professional health communicators. Quigley said these individuals aim to bring "their strategic ability and their creative ability and their business acumen to their employers" while also doing so "in a way that affects people’s lives."

The Health Communication program at BU is really a unique program. We bring together faculty from all across Boston University and from professional fields, and we do it online in a way that I think is really remarkably effective. It's a program that exists at the intersection of communication and health, that's our sweet spot. Our program is designed for individuals who either are or want to be professional health communicators. Yes, they want to bring their strategic ability and their creative ability and their business acumen to their employers, but they also want to do those things in a way that affects people's lives, and that's exciting.
