Good morning! As the famous broadcaster Jim Nance likes to say, hello friends. Welcome. We thought it would make sense just to spend a few minutes providing some background why we even do the investor panels, why we do the shareholders meeting. For those of you that have been following Markel for long enough, you've heard our CEO Tom Gayner say that our aspiration is nothing short of becoming one of the world's great companies, and that we plan to do that through our win-win-win architecture. Winning is the last word of the Markel Style. Make no mistake about it, we want to win. But we want to do it in a way that our customers, our associates, and our shareholders also win. And there's no better embodiment of that ethos than this day. We hope that all of you come here, you learn something, you rekindle old relationships, maybe make some new ones, you move your business forward, and that you're better off for having participated. And we hope that we are better off, that we learn something from you, that you ask questions about our business and challenge us and make us think about it in new ways, that we strengthen relationships with long-time partners, discover some new ones maybe in the room as a future 30-year associate or an operator that wants to sell their business and become part of the Markel Group family. That's what this day is all about. But none of this would be possible without two people that I want to call out in particular, and they're the type of people that do not want me to call them out. They live the Markel Style in every way. They are what I like to call the magic makers, and it's Cynthia Green and Gretchen Nurenberger from the Markel events team.
