About Joel Fisher

Joel Fisher, Executive Vice President of Marquee Events & Operations at Madison Square Garden Sports, has been involved with the venue for over 38 years. In 2022, he described the fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor as "historic for women's boxing and for boxing in general," noting that the atmosphere was "absolutely electric." He stated that the Garden has "always prided ourselves on being the mecca of boxing" and that the venue is selective about the fights it hosts, aiming to do "the biggest and best fights" that will sell out. Fisher also commented on a unification fight between Arthur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr., calling it a "50-50 fight" and predicting it would be "another great night of boxing." In earlier appearances, Fisher emphasized the Garden's status as "the center of boxing," asserting that fighters "don't feel that they've made it unless they've fought at Madison Square Garden." He discussed the venue's selectivity in choosing events, stating, "We will not just do a fight just to have a fight." In 2013, Fisher presented Miguel Cotto with a commemorative plaque for selling over 100,000 tickets across eight fights at the Garden, calling the milestone "an amazing number." He also highlighted the venue's renovations, describing the transformed building as "a hall of fame" that celebrates its history.

Thank you, Richard, and thank you everybody for coming out today. What can we say? It's fight week, and the excitement just continues to build each and every day of fight week. I get really excited when I know a fight's coming up. There's nothing better in the Garden than a big fight like we're gonna have Saturday night. So it should be a great fight. As Richard mentioned, he said if you worked at the Garden you'd be fine because you can't call it a renovated Garden, it's a transformed Garden. And it truly is a transformed Garden. It's just a different building. And now our fight fans will be able to see all the new things we did in this phase. There's a whole new upper bowl, a whole new upper bowl concourse. I really urge everybody, it's really a neat thing, if you get a chance walk around the sixth floor concourse and you can see how we celebrated our history. In essence, the whole building is a hall of fame. All around the soffit on the sixth floor concourse you see events that took place each and every day of the year, different years, and a lot of those events clearly are boxing and some of the bigger events. So it's just going to be a great building and it's going to be even better for boxing. The Garden, as you know, has a rich tradition for boxing and fights, and we've hosted champions throughout all the years that we've had this building. We're excited to welcome Miguel back to the Garden, his home away from home, and we're also excited to welcome Austin and all the other fighters here to the Garden, some of which are fighting here for the first time. It's been great to work with Gabby from the Cotton Promotions as well as Richard, David, and all the people from Golden Boy. It's been a while, and it's tremendous to have their professional association, as Melvina said. It's just great to have them back in the building. Also, we're looking forward, we haven't worked with Showtime in a while, so I want to welcome Stephen and Showtime. If you can't make it here, they're going to put together a great night on TV. We're thrilled to work with them again. Melvina, you're always a pleasure to have here. We know it's a big boxing night if you're here, and we're thankful to be working with Melvina again. I know that she's going to make sure that all these fighters have a very safe fight for everybody and a night for everybody. Before I end, there's a great milestone that I want to talk to everybody about that Miguel is actually during this promotion. This is his eighth fight. He's a great fighter, we all know that. New York is his second home, he's got a tremendous fan base here. During this promotion, he's fought in the building eight times. He's eclipsed a great moment. He sold over a hundred thousand tickets in all of the eight fights here, which is pretty amazing if you think about it. So for that, we'd like to present this commemorative ticket to Miguel. We love having them here. We'll come down in a second to take pictures. For a hundred thousand tickets, which is just an amazing number, it's great to have you back. We look forward to a great night on Saturday night. Don't miss it.
