When I first started in the company, I really had a very limited understanding of what Shreiber even did. In my experience recruiting for Shreiber and hiring people from the outside, people's experience level of Shreiber is typically pretty small. I figured it was food, and that's about all I knew. You think you know, where are the cows, where's the milk? First question was to the recruiter: what do you do? I know you're in the food industry, but what do you do? Basically no one has heard of Shreiber, and basically everyone has had Shreiber products. When you're going to the grocery store and you're looking at the cheese aisle or the yogurt aisle and you're seeing the branded product and then you see the store brand product, chances are really good that that's Shreiber product. Any time that you eat at a restaurant and you get a burger with cheese on it, or a parfait with yogurt, or a bagel with some cream cheese, there's a pretty good chance that's Shreiber product you're consuming. Once we start going through all of the examples of the places that they eat or shop and where they've consumed Shreiber product, there's really that wow factor for them to understand the big scale company that we are.
And I think that is the cornerstone of our culture. I can't just pass this off to someone else. I own the bottom line. More importantly, I owe what we're delivering to the customer to be the best steward we can for that customer's branded product. And that's been prevalent in every single one of the plants I've visited across the Shreiber network, whether in the US or internationally.
Private is a special place to work because of the concept of being a partner, not only an employee. It makes me feel part of the company. It makes me feel committed every day. Our customer has to say we have the right decision to drive. They get 100% support from everybody in the company, even finance people, even production people, even logistic people. You know, and all say to guys, hey, it's not sales part, it's our part.
It's the people. We do deeply care about one another. We want to do business and do it well, but more importantly, we want to make sure that we're good to one another. Caring at Shreiber shows itself in so many faces. Sometimes it expresses itself when a partner is in need. Other times it comes from every partner working hard and putting conscious effort into working safely and really caring about our customer commitments. We are a family. We care for each other. We have this strong relationship between us, and this is based in commitment and is based in trust.
