Hello, I'm Octavio Espinoza and I welcome you to this presentation. By now perhaps you've seen something in my resume that's of interest to you, and you might be wondering whether it's a good idea to contact me. Therefore, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about myself, my strengths, and how I might benefit your organization.
One of the most common interview questions has to do with 'Tell me about yourself,' so let's begin here. As a native San Diegan, I've been fortunate to contribute to a successful biotech industry, and over that tenure I've been part of two successful startup organizations, Microsoft Corporation and the Dow Chemical Company, where I held key roles in strengthening and seeing each of those organizations succeed.
Over the course of my scientific career, I've acquired a wide breadth of technical skills through initiative and continuous learning, and I take great pride that my expertise, my work ethic, and my collaborative nature are staples of who I am professionally.
Another common interview question has to do with strengths and weaknesses. Without a doubt, my three greatest strengths are passion, organization, and interpersonal skills. I enjoy being around people and working with people towards common goals. My resume cites three professional accomplishments where I demonstrated a high degree of passion and a very strong commitment to seeing each of those projects succeed.
Certainly this segment would not be complete without a mention of a weakness. Without a doubt, my greatest weakness is an intolerance and an impatience with inefficiency. Inefficiency leads to lost opportunities, and it's easily avoidable through clear communication, effective organization, and accountability, all strong points of mine.
By now perhaps you're wondering how all this information helps me fill my immediate need. Simply put, it's my skill set and my track record, a track record as evidenced by the evaluations I've posted on this website for your review.
Equally important, however, is the question of whether I might have the quick character qualities to help your organization succeed. I can confidently tell you that with a passion for science, a very strong commitment to help a company succeed, and a genuine desire to enrich colleagues, those are qualities you don't commonly find on a resume or in a candidate.
In summary, I've taken this initiative to tell you a little bit more about myself, my strengths, and how I might benefit your organization. I do recognize the hiring process is complex, requiring a lot of time, effort, money, and risk. I'm hoping that all this information before you reduces that risk to at least have a discussion. I'm Octavio Espinoza. Thank you for listening.
