Hello everyone, my name is Rashida Thomas and this is my turning point video for Full Sail University. I graduated from Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. I'm currently using a degree to teach sports marketing and marketing at the high school level. I have been using my degree also in the corporate field as an assistant manager at Walmart, where I was responsible for different marketing strategy and tactics within the store. I plan on becoming a certified sports agent and a multi-business owner after receiving my master's degree from the Entertainment Business with the Sports Track from Full Sail University.
My plan to develop that mastery is to continue to read books from successful business owners, as well as interview them to get successful tips. Through reading the master ebook required for this first class, there were five strategies mentioned in the book. The first would be returning to my origins. When I returned to my origins, sports and music are at the base of that. They excite me the most, they keep me grounded, and I just love them both together. I can take sports without music, but I love them both together.
The second one will be occupying the perfect niche with sports and marketing. Being in my love, I found that through a marketing agency I can fill both of those loves that are at the base of my spirit to help me be successful through that with branding, as well as helping them succeed in their careers.
The third will be avoiding the false path. I was caught up in the corporate world as I stated before, working at Walmart, and now I'm currently an educator. Being an educator has helped me realize that I'm happier because I love to teach, I love to enlighten the youth, and I love to help develop and brand people that want to succeed and become more in life.
The fourth one was letting go of the past. That was pretty hard for me at first, but I learned to be successful you have to be able to adapt and change with the current trends of the world today, which are actually advancing a whole lot faster than they used to when I was growing up.
The last part that was mentioned was finding your way back. Finding your way back stuck out to me the most because throughout my career path since I graduated from high school, there have been a lot of different businesses that have caught my attention, and mainly they've caught my attention for money. So they've distracted me from being a successful teacher, they've distracted me from selling more at Walmart, they distracted me from becoming that multi-business owner in my own business fields, because I felt that if I would be successful in somebody else's business venture and help them out, that I'd be able to gain the money necessary to help me succeed in my own business. When all in all, that was just the main distraction that kept me from further achieving my goal.
My ultimate goal is to become a certified sports agent and a multi-business owner. Two personal goals that will help me achieve that goal as soon as possible will be procrastination. I need to stop procrastinating, go out there, get it done, take a leap of faith, and just do it as soon as I feel it in my spirit to do it. And the second one would be to build a positive relationship with those that can help me the most. I feel that I've connected with a lot of people that are in the line to help me succeed the most. I just need to continue to build those networks, build those relationships, and I'll be successful. Thank you for listening to me. Have a great day.
