Firstly, I saw a really young bunch of management graduates walk in. What really stood out for me is their confidence levels. But above everything else, they had so much depth and so much understanding about the topic they were presenting on. I actually felt that India is full of young innovators like these, and the future is bright, not just for Mahindra, but the future is bright for India.
So what I distinctively remember of last year was that all the candidates specifically had five minutes, and I think what they did well was have a very sharp approach in those five minutes, to use their time well, be concise, sharp, and with very limited slides, more of very expressive points put forward to the jury. I think there were a lot of good ideas on sustainability. I remember clearly hydroponics and generation of solar energy and wind energy out in the ocean as two ideas. As we develop our technology stack for our sustainability business in Sustain and Tech Mahindra, many of those ideas are coming in handy to build on them and take them to the next level.
The joy on the face of Mihir and his family when they got the Mahindra Thar really stood out for me, and I'll never forget that. It's etched in my memory. You know, from what I saw in last year's presentations, it was a level of detail in understanding businesses, way beyond what we would expect someone who hasn't worked in our business to be able to come up with. So it's really that spark and grasp of a business with an outside-in view. The one moment that had an impact on me was when one of the participants came up with an idea that actually made our entire auto team think again about their strategy in a particular segment. I thought that was amazing. I thought that's the beauty of this challenge, that's the beauty of getting new ideas.
