About Sergio Aguirre
Sergio Aguirre, a consultant at Gogo, has been involved in the company’s development of inflight connectivity technology. In December 2024, Aguirre discussed Gogo’s first over-the-air test of its Galileo antenna, which connected over the Eutelsat OneWeb low-Earth-orbit satellite network. He described the test as a significant milestone that demonstrated the functionality of the antenna and the system’s ability to provide high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity for business aircraft. Aguirre stated that the test gave the company confidence in its ability to bring the product to market.
In earlier appearances, Aguirre has commented on Gogo’s business strategy and industry challenges. In September 2024, he discussed the company’s investment in 5G and satellite technologies, and expressed a view that Gogo no longer needed to be a public company, as it had self-funded its investments. He also noted the importance of attracting young people to the aviation industry and highlighted Gogo’s efforts to offer more affordable satellite communication solutions. In 2023, he addressed the company’s expansion of its 5G network into Canada and the deployment of new air-to-ground infrastructure.

So this week was really an exciting week for us because we did our first over-the-air test of the antenna. And this is really a truly significant milestone in the program because it is the first major step to proving the functionality of the antenna and proving that it all works well. What this test does is it really takes information from our AVANCE LRU, goes up through our HDX antenna, connects over the Eutelsat OneWeb satellites, back down to a nurse station, being able to have that whole ecosystem talk to each other and make that connection for the first time is really exciting and a true testament to the amount of work that the engineering teams have put into this point and gives us a lot of confidence in our ability to bring this product to life this year. To be able to have products that really provide high bandwidth connectivity at a low latency and be able to fit in a form factor that can go on almost any size business aircraft is truly a remarkable step forward and something I think the industry is really excited about and something I know that I'm truly excited about. Our customers have very high expectations of the connectivity that they have on the aircraft. It has to work, it has to be reliable, they have to be working with a company that they trust and Gogo is in a great position to provide all those things.
