About Gautam Adani

Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, addressed the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 on May 11, where he said that the global economy is no longer "flat" but "fractured," with supply chains being redesigned around national interest. He argued that energy security and digital security are now "the twin foundations of national power" and that a country that controls both its energy and its compute will "shape the century ahead." Adani stated that India must not "import fear" from the Western world regarding artificial intelligence eliminating jobs, and said AI should be built to expand productivity and create new jobs. He noted that the Adani Group has commissioned 35% of a 30 GW renewable energy plant at Khavda in Gujarat and announced a $100 billion commitment to the data center business, including a partnership with Google to build a gigawatt-scale campus in Visakhapatnam. On May 1, International Labour Day, Adani launched a dialogue series titled "Apni Baat, Apno Ke Saath" for Adani Group employees. He said the group has over 400,000 participants and added that it is adding assets worth ₹1 lakh crore in a single year. He outlined three transformations for the group, including a three-layer model, and said the group is building air-conditioned accommodation for 50,000 workers in Mundra and Khavda. On May 10, Adani led a groundbreaking ceremony in Bihar's Saran district for the Adani Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, organized jointly by the Adani Foundation and Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, and said the group aims to invest ₹50,000-60,000 crore in Bihar over the next three to four years.

Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi, dignitaries on the dais, industry leaders, and my dear friends. This is the season of Uttarayan, the season we fly kites in our state of Gujarat. Uttarayan is a combination of two Sanskrit words that means movement upwards towards north. I'm honored to be here at this vibrant Gujarat Summit, which is about our state, Gujarat, movement upwards towards success. The leadership of one man has made all the difference: Shri Narendra Modi. Today, Gujarat accounts for 17.7% of the nation's industrial output and 25% of India's exports. Over the past decade, Gujarat's GDP has grown at an average of at least 2% point faster than India's fast-growing GDP. Gujarat is the top-ranked state in attracting industrial investment, accounting for a stunning 26% of India's total industrial investment over the past decade. No leader of any state has had such a massive impact on modern India. As I reflect over the past month, it is incredible contemplating that Shri Modi was not only getting ready to face an election being closely followed both nationally and internationally, but simultaneously planning to personally lead Vibrant Gujarat, the most significant business gathering orchestrated in our nation. It is such capabilities that make our Chief Minister stand out and deliver the transformational results the people of Gujarat continue to benefit from. Honorable Chief Minister, your vision and leadership is unparalleled. You are an inspiration to all of us, and this inspiration drives our commitment to the state of Gujarat.
Over the last two Vibrant Gujarat Summits, the Adani Group had committed to commission a total of 4,620 megawatts of power generation capacity at Mundra. We have done so, making Mundra the single largest privately owned coal-based power plant in the world. Not only this, we went further and also invested in building our own 4,000 megawatt capacity transmission infrastructure. In addition to this, we have also commissioned a 40 megawatt power plant in record time. Another commitment was in the area of ports. We promised to continue to invest not just in Mundra but also in other ports in Gujarat. Hazira and Dahej are now fully functional, and work at Tuna is on in full swing. This continued investment in port infrastructure helps us to maintain our status as the fastest growing port company in the country. My commitment again today is that our investment in the state in this core infrastructure sector will continue. We are investing in a new rail line connecting Hazira port to the key Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor. We are continuing with the mechanization of Dahej port and further investing in expansion at Mundra and other ports. We expect this investment to create an additional 5,000 jobs.
I started my talk with what the kite flying festival, Uttarayan, means. Let me conclude with another quote about kites: a kite rises not with the wind but against it. Whatever the state of Gujarat, with just 5% of the national population, has been able to achieve is exactly this flight of the kite. Honorable Chief Minister, once again, I admire your unique vision, I admire your leadership, and I admire your patriotism. I look forward to continuing to live up to the expectations, to help better our state, and spread the fragrance of Gujarat as we do our part of building our great state and our great nation.
