President Trump attended the G7 summit in France in June 2026, where he held press conferences and bilateral meetings with world leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Trump stated that on June 14 the U.S. reached a memorandum of understanding with Iran that he said would end the current conflict, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. We are flying planes over the middle of Tehran and they have no idea. We've knocked out their radar and anti-aircraft, much of their missile. They have less than 20%, we think about 20%. Most of their launchers, which are quite important, their drone capacity is way down. You see it. Their attacks are very minor. They are finished, and yet the fake news, just like with the election, fake news is out there saying, 'Wow, Iran is doing so well. Trump is doing terribly.' I watched yesterday, one show, five minutes, fake Scarborough talking about how well Iran is doing. Where did they come from? Craziest thing. I will tell you, they won't even dispute it, although they probably would. Iran is good at publicity, not good at fighting. I took a look at, I must tell you, they can't believe the press they are getting. They told me, 'It is amazing how well we are doing in the paper.' They are negotiating to make a deal. It is hard because they are very proud and they believe in the Middle East for 47 years.
