Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysians, particularly the younger generation, to reject narrow racial sentiments, stating that such attitudes could undermine national unity. In a speech on May 10, he said that if decisions are based purely on racial sentiments, the Malay majority must appreciate the rights of every citizen, and that the Chinese and Indians can also make their demands. He added that the nation should not allow a "massive racist reaction" that would destroy the fabric of society, and expressed optimism that the country would continue to accept the Madani framework to protect the interests of all citizens. Anwar has also addressed the conflict in West Asia, describing an "unprovoked assault on Iran launched by the Zionist regime of Israel with the support of the United States" and stating that the rules-based international order cannot be invoked selectively.
