Shacey Petrovic, CEO and president of Insulet, has discussed the company's efforts to expand access to its Omnipod insulin delivery system. She stated that Insulet explored the pharmacy channel to make Omnipod more broadly available, eliminating upfront costs so users or payers only pay for pods as they are used. Petrovic also noted that the company rolled out a free 30-day trial program for potential users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she said Insulet expanded its financial assistance program for customers who lost their jobs and insurance coverage. Petrovic has described the Omnipod 5 as an automated insulin delivery system that integrates with continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) such as Dexcom's G6 sensor. She stated that the system's algorithm resides in the pod, allowing users to remain in closed-loop control during activities like exercise or showering. Petrovic also said Insulet has partnerships with both Dexcom and Abbott, and that the first generation of Omnipod 5 will launch with Dexcom integration, followed by integration with Abbott's Libre.
