He stated that he began his career as a truck driver after high school and later took night classes to earn degrees in business administration and accounting. Thompson said he managed multiple locations for a firm over 22 years before leaving to start his own business, a propane company in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, which he said grew to become the largest regional distributor of cylinders within seven years. He noted that another company later bought his business. Thompson said he currently works for a company that provides business solutions and equipment to businesses in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. He stated that his experience includes working with both large and small business owners and that he understands the challenges of starting a business and navigating regulations. Thompson expressed a desire to remove obstacles to help others achieve the "American dream."
