Joshua Minix, who serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Apartment Income REIT, previously described his role as a managing director and partner at InvestRes, where he focused on westward expansion, institutional capital relationships, property acquisition, and forming relationships with property owners. In a 2018 appearance, Minix stated that before joining InvestRes he performed acquisition policy analysis at a think-tank serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and later studied law at Harvard Law School through the Olin Fellows program, concentrating on economics and business. Minix said he joined InvestRes in early 2012 when it was a small company, motivated by what he described as an opportunity to provide a service in a market gap created by the recession. He noted that the company saw a 50x growth in assets under management since 2012, and attributed the firm's ability to expand across geographies to its operating platform.
