On , Christopher Lau, Chief Financial Officer & Senior EVice President at AMERICAN HOMES 4 RENT, spoke about housing development during AMH CEO & CFO talk about the role it will play in America's housing landscape over the next 10 years on New York Stock Exchange.
In a September 2023 interview marking the 10-year anniversary of American Homes 4 Rent’s IPO, CFO Christopher Lau stated that the company is "proudly the 39th largest homebuilder in the country and the largest integrated owner operator and developer of single family rental homes." He said the company is "part of the solution to help solve the housing shortage in our country by adding thousands of homes all across the country each year that are meaningfully less expensive to rent compared to homeownership." Lau noted that as of that date, the company owned nearly 60,000 single-family rental homes and was building 2,200 to 2,300 homes that year. Lau also referenced the company's impact on the housing sector, saying that in addition to creating value for shareholders, the company is "creating value for shareholders as well as our residents and our local communities." CEO David Singelyn added that the company's mission for the next decade is to be "part of the solution of housing in this country," citing an undersupply of housing and the need for more high-quality rental options.
